Vitali Klitschko, Kyiv’s mayor and former world heavyweight boxing champion, has described the Ukraine capital as “encircled” and said a civilian evacuation would not be possible “because all ways are blocked”.

“We are at the border of a humanitarian catastrophe,” he told Associated Press on Sunday as a curfew continued in the city which he said allowed authorities to hunt “saboteurs” on the streets. “Right now, we have electricity, right now we have water and heating in our houses. But the infrastructure is destroyed to deliver the food and medication.”

“That’s why the message for everyone is: support Ukraine together ... We are strong,” he said. “Every Ukrainian is proud to be independent, proud to be Ukrainian, and we are proud to have our own country.”

Wish FIFA (and UEFA) would do the same to Russia on an international level. Yes, I realize it actually hurts the players (and fans) who likely have their own opinion on this war, and does nothing to end the war, but given that so far it's all been sanctions and symbolic protests, they could certainly impose this ban (along with the IOC) with a strongly worded statement. And it would go a long way toward helping to re-establish FIFA's credibility, of which they currently have none due to all their corruption.

Sometimes the independent actions of supporters, clubs, and countries speak miles louder than the machinations of "governing bodies".

What's needed is for the senior Russian military commanders and chiefs of staff etc to refuse to carry out any orders from Putin... without the military to support him, his powerbase would be dramatically weakened.
If the military refuse his orders, you would hope that the troops will eventually realise and back down themselves, thus bringing hostilities to an end... and Putin gets ousted as a minimum and arrested as the ideal.
Within their oppressive system means it may not be that easy and more so knowing how dictators like weak people around them, it would be a huge catalyst.

Unless they're spineless yes men who are in it for the power and money, it must be galling for them to see such inept fighting and so many of their men dying.

Their oath is to the Russian federation and not Putin. More so, regardless of what all the rubbish people spout, your loyalty is to your men and your unit.

It will be worry for him as they may wish for a coup d'état to rid themselves of the person who is causing too many young Russians to die needlessly.

It will take someone with a spine though.

A Ukrainian-owned bakery and espresso shop here in San Antonio is donating all proceeds from this weekend to efforts in support of their homeland. They are known for their cheesecakes. The outpouring of support has been tremendous to see. I arrived this morning 30 minutes before opening and was nearly 100 people deep in the queue. 30 minutes later the line was more than a city block long. After making my purchases, I saw the line was even longer. People were calling in and donating money to buy the personal cheesecakes and slices for people standing in line. The cash donation jar was already nearly overflowing.

Doing what we can here to tell Putin to go [Poor language removed] himself.

Here's a sample of the personal cheesecakes in a jar, from L to R: Red Velvet, Cookies and Cream, and my favorite Toffee Turtle.

A boss gesture. I hope dear overlord @AndyC doesn't throw some warning points at you for the language as in this case it's more than worthy.
