I dont think people feel it's small. It's more just counter productive in terms of the stated goals, beyond making the EU and UK feel good about themselves for bullying ordinary Russians.

It will be disastrous for the poorest, and likely see a further consolidation of power/resources in the hands of the wealthy.
The thing I'm thinking about is the police or whichever authorities it is taking the protesters off the street and locking them up. Once those guys stop getting paid or can't get food themselves surely it's a matter of time before it all swings against Putin in his homeland.

Totally disagree.

Look at Putin threatening the nuclear option while trying to brainwash the public.

Now with heavy financial sanctions the public will be up in arms for a week. Corporates and institutions will be furious and everyone will think back to Putin stating he was going into Ukraine.

If it takes 7 days of economic pain for all of Russia for a statement made of how Putin has done this to them by invading then its a wise move.

I believe the Russian public may even be happy to make such a sacrifice if it means hes punted out.

We also await the hague findings are Ukraine asked them to intervene.

Nobody (least of all me) is suggesting that Chernobyl isn't a logical place to occupy.

What I am suggesting is that if Chernobyl was to be blown up, it would kill millions of people in Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and greater Europe. It is not a tactical nuclear weapon that would only harm one side. It would be a suicidal act for every nation in Europe.
It's a last ditch tactic of a crazy man.

I’m assuming that as soon as he talks nukes his generals are in serious discussion behind his back.

I think theyre already doing this. In Belarus the Lt Colonel was saying the orders to attack Ukraine are criminal.

I think Lukashenko will be gone fairly soon...with Putin id be amazed if the military arent wondering wth theyre doing.

This all seems a little odd to me. I am no expert but I always had Putin down as a shrewd operator and a nimble politician but he seems to have got this wrong big time and is painting himself into a corner which could be dangerous given he is not the most stable person or is something more subtle going on?

Hes very shrewd when he feels hes in total control and behaves like a mafia boss and a strongman.

This is the first time I think that he's been opposed on such a level that the bully now has a bloody nose.

When that happens they either throw haymakers or back off crying.

70% approval rating Domestically which has risen on the back of the invasion

I am doubtful of that, if outside powers make him impoverished for no sensible reason.
