Lots of pro Russian bozos in here.

Pretty much just Kev absolutely salivating at the idea of Putin levelling Kiev with nukes and killing thousands.

My favourite bit was this...
As some of you have probably guessed I have connections in Russia

As if he is privy to some sort of inside track on Putin's regime and not some obese virgin posting wham from his mother's basement

I don't have crystal ball and this is anonymous forum, but there are a people from a lot of countries around the world who got bombed to oblivion by Western bombs and drone strikes and who see massive hypocrisy in all of this.

America and European countries mocking Russia while themselves being guilty of war crimes and bombing civilians not so long ago in Afghanistan and Iraq

With all sincerity, it was not a throw away phrase nor was it glib. It is regrettable that the Russian population will suffer, and I mean that.

However, the shameful acts originated with the Russian invasion of a sovereign nation, and ultimately strict sanctions are a tool to help stop the aggressors.

Genuinely, unless we attack Russia, which will cost many more lives, what else do you recommend apart from rolling over and letting them succeed?

The blame that'll be viewed negatively will be Putin's decision to invade. If it helps destabilise his power base, it will have done its job.

I would recommend finding a peaceful diplomatic solution.

How likely do you think it is that it may work to Putin's advantage? "Look at what they ('The West') have done to us, you, the Russian people?"

A great deal has been said in here about propaganda - I guess much depends on how pro-Putin everyday Russians are and how effective the stranglehold on media and propaganda is. There's been focus on protests in Russia, but how representative or widely reported they are remains open to question.

Having said all that hunger and desperation are powerful forces.

Well I imagine if you cant eat, you are going blame the people who have committed that crime against you.

Putin with his nuclear rhetoric again pretty tiresome stuff
The real power in Russia is capitalist money they should throw this old communist relic living in the past into a gulag
hopefully these sanctions will speed it up
