He's said the economic sanctions, are effectively an act of war.

Which is what he was referring to by 'interference' in his initial war speech.

He didn’t say that, kev. He said unfriendly acts and aggression, of which the sanctions (to which they’ve been subjected for a while) are probably the least important part.

Arming Ukraine and especially allowing “volunteers” to take part (as the idiot Truss did this morning) are almost certainly seen as worse by Putin, albeit even then not acts of war.

he didnt say sanctions were the least important part - maybe you think they are. Its not so much their effect, but the intent and language used behind them.

Think the point is that they're making a provision to spend up to €100bn - rather than actively investing that (it would take months to figure out how to distribute it).

I think I was correct in that the additional €100bn fund and the longer term 2% GDP target are distinct.

Afghanistan and Iraq were backed by the UN, there was nobody to sanction us when Cromwell invaded Ireland and we've never invaded the Falklands.

Seeing them protests in Russia and the lines at ATM's its only a matter of time before normal Russian people start getting angry when the sanctions hit.
