This is an interesting take on the Russia/Syria/Turkey situation and is indicative of the economic drivers that mostly underpin wars. Nod to the Ukraine Russia situation regarding gas, and suppy to Europe before the war.

Gamelin was old and stuck in his ways, petain actively threw his lot in with the nazis and ushered in some of the persecution they are infamous for in France.

I suppose war, like business is quite easy, back the bigger belligerent and you'll often come out on the winning side. Ethics and morals and all that stuff don't tend to mean an awful lot when they're written in the books that go on the fire first.

Slightly off-topic, but it was interesting that the French high command, head by Gamelin, was stationed at a place called Vincennes.

Amazingly, it had no radios, nor was it linked to the French military's teleprinter network; it only had a small connection to the French phone network!

This epitomised Gamelin's incompetence because he was not ready for a modern war, like many others stuck in 1918 (or even earlier!) and lacking any backbone.

Anyway, to bring it back onto topic, you could find links between the French of 1940 and Russia: full of reputation, but lacking any real competence.

Georgia - an election with a lot of dubious practises but which was not declared as being illegal by a yine outside NATO - president leasing insurrection and trying to invite a maidan - who today stated due to the illegal result won't be stepping down when her term ends. So democratic that isn't it, but then again she was born in France was a french diplomat, and even a french ambassador, never set foot in Georgia until she was over 50 years old. Now she bleeds Georgia, oh yes her ex husband was a high ranking member of the world bank as well. NO AGENDA there like.

Armed Islamists backed by turkey bis the US, includes ISIS, Al-Qeada, videos all over the shop showing them executing syrian army prisoners, tearing down Palestine flags and praising Israel for helping them launch their attack.

Basically it's the US activating all proxies possible before trump takes over in order to create a quagmire for him.

Yet this is celebrated on here because, errrm why exactly? Lots of Syrians being killed, the potential for lots of Georgians to die now too should this escalate.

Meanwhile the people cheering this on are not directly involved, the west. Same way that people want the age in the Ukraine now to be lowered to 18 and younger. Not one of you would argue this if you yourself or your family had to actually face the consequences yourselves.

Easy to love war when those dying are slavs or Muslims and not people like you I guess.

Never said once I'm none partisan, quite the opposite in fact always stated I live here my family is here and I support the country I live in.

Btw watch the BBC doc on Ukraine the other month, where it literally showed a drone operator killing a wounded russian soldier begging to the operator. Then come talk about the moral high ground.
