I've seen some stuff saying Russia is going to rush Kyiv with a [Poor language removed] ton of tanks but that doesn't really make sense. Won't it be incredibly easy for people defending the city to take the tanks out from high rise buildings with anti tank weaponry?

Surely to be folks here with more of a banking background than I have but if a bank cannot participate in SWIFT does it call into question the solvency of that institution? Makes me wonder if word get out there may be a run on banks in Russia starting Monday.

Well two things spring to mind- 1. the central bank usually lends to the government. Unless the government pays troops and suppliers in gold bars this will limit its access to funding.

2. Banks ( in general i.e not just the central one) don't tend to stash their money, but to use it and reinvest it constantly, so yeah not being able to transfer funds via swift would seriously affect solvency. Could lead to bank runs if the banks don't have any cash, can't pay their own bills and you the everyday Russian have savings there.

I doubt the juice is going to be worth the squeeze. He’ll end up “in charge” of a country which hates him, with crushing economic sanctions as a result.

F.ck. i'm scared of chechen forces getting closer and closer. today Ukraine special forces killed a general who was close to Kadyrov, so I read. these guys will commit any possible war crime to revenge him. ??? will their army of people get dry any time soon?

This is a screen shot of a video Kadyrov made this afternoon, we just watched it, he says a load of crap about Nazi’s and then says he’s seen the weapons Ukraine has and he won’t send more men against them, which is a huge turnaround as a few days ago he was saying he’d turn Ukraine into a bloodbath.

In the comments people are suspicious they don’t trust him.

big if true mate. i cant do nothing but pray. sent 500euros today to the UKR consulate's bank account (which is still huge amount for me) but thats nothing compared to heroics of Kyivans
