I see it different, sadly I see it worse, we've had mone and the money and cleverly and the drugging women in the past fortnight and the best he has is blair and Iraq from over 20 years ago. Like a vulture searching for carrion he turns up to pick over the bones of whataboutery. Then argues about good faith and polite discourse. It's all lies. I'd have a lot more credibility in him if he had the balls to say "I'm happy with the status quo as it suits me just fine, minorities can F themselves and so can all the poor, me and mine are alright jack". I wouldn't like it, but I'd have to respect the honesty. It's that which has been lost, the automatic judgement of 'the other side is lying' and it has been capitalised upon to drive a wedge between the sides. The further apart the poles of the right and left are pushed the more extreme the discourse, makes great tv and war and bloodshed and reprisals and and and...

murdochs sun isn't welcome on Merseyside, and the gb news types and all the scum in the tory party are afraid to venture north of Watford. A change is coming, and it's gonna be a hell of a ride when it turns up. Bye bye boomers, the generations of harmed are the legacy now...

I don't wanna turn threads into him vs me, he's on ignore, it's for the best, he can keep talking about me but that's head I'm living in rent free. Let's move on permanently.

I am 100% against conscription, I'd defend my own family for myself if we had nowhere to go, there's no point living without them. I'm sure some soldiers feel the same way. None of this would happen if Putin buggered off.

Ok.
The conscription issue is difficult, because it was already active, all that's moved is the age requirement. Where were the nay sayers a week ago. Nowhere, because there wasn't some trolling to be done over the issue. Middens though, and meat grinders, and the overlooking of kidnapping, and the targeting of civilians. The juxtaposition on here between the israelis and netenyahu and the Ukrainians and Zelenskyy has been nothing short of an abomination. I'd have removed the worst of it from the entire forum, but I'm just one lowly voice. Anyhow, jobs hard enough, don't need my ten cents muddying the waters further...

I understand what you're saying. I'm saying it from a "war is futile" point of view. Those Russians don't wanna be there, I bet a lot of those Israelis don't wanna be there either. The world these days sadly is the same as it ever was.

There's no money in peace. I raised Lockheed Martin in this thread months ago. Someone has to have the say, when you get two big enough entities vying for top spot it always means a lessening of fortunes and populace. There have been minor instances running since forever. AK47's don't end up in the hands of ten year olds in Africa by accident.

Not at all mate, I didn't get to your post before commenting, I'm sure you posted on the subject with goodwill and sincerity as always on a serious topic.

Me personally, I think conscription itself should be a war crime, enlisting folk to bleed for elites because of a coincidence of geography, to die or suffer ptsd for the rest of their lives becoming executioners with a few weeks training? Not for me.

And the idea that retired tories, who will never have to lift a finger in anger themselves having empowered the party who empowered putin should be telling youngsters to throw thier lives away for freedom, while they pretend they would have done the same thing while laughing as they vote your actual rights away?? Nah not having that, you hear the same garbage from that horrible got tv wool and the like, saying men of 'fighting age' should not be granted asylum. These people are victims of the corrupt systems we have put in place, I'm not asking them to die for it.

100%. Spot on as always. The thing that really grinds my gears the most, is these boomers being pro conscription, whilst they've never had a proper war to be involved in, and reap the benefits of the hell their fathers went through.

Just to add my stupidity, some boomers made a mint catering for the warless cold war, you know, selling all sorts from long range bombers and missiles to submarines and small arms to banana republiks... not that i'm pointing the finger.... Looks like I missed a lot in the Tory thread!

Conscription in general is a bad thing, but if you're in government and your country is invaded, I don't think you have the luxury of offering the choice.

The point I am making is people who chose not to fight for somebody else’s political cause/an ambitious politician are not necessarily traitors or cowards - whatever their nationality.

By the same token, those who fight are not necessarily heroes or brave.
