I think 'token gestures' are what they say on the tin. You need to go for the jugular with sanctions...

...even if they take the SWIFT measures now that has taken time which has cost lives.

1: If you look at Cayman, they froze assets across the board a couple of years ago. Individuals, hedge funds and all different spectrums of account holders. They required no evidence and held the funds for (if im not being conservative) 18months in some cases without charge.

2: Its quite widely accepted that Putin's cronies are handsomely rewarded.

Im speaking generally but the Federation and Duma will both be massively corrupt -- hence Putin's mafia references.

You see we can all hate or despise trump (im not a big fan) but history shows that under him there was peace.

Thats undisputed. Thats the comparison im making with Biden who in around 1 year(?) has been part of 2 major military cockups.

What the people who hate trump fail to process is that while hes a maniac, Putin and others wont be able to 2nd guess him...with Germany, Hungary France, Italy and the US now you can read them like a book.

Colour me shocked...

No idea who she is...but whats wrong with her post?

Looks like India needs Russian support for their border issues with China.

Theyre in a very difficult position and like the Philippines have moved away from alignment with the US.

China and Russia are two peas in the same pod.
Your weird obsession with trump and Biden
Jesus, give it up, it’s weird

A high level NATO source said to a European paper that theyre very confused by the Russian tactics. Only a fraction of the 200k troops are deployed. As if the war is less serious now.

This is a start...very late in the day

Biden releases $350m in military aid to Ukraine

Reuters reports that President Joe Biden has instructed the US State Department to release $350m in military aid to Ukraine as it struggles to repulse a Russian invasion.
In a memorandum to Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Biden directed that $350m allocated through the Foreign Assistance Act be designated for Ukraine’s defence.
Having already given hundreds of millions is arms to Ukraine

It seems at odds to the level of advancement of the Russian invasion.

One life lost on either side is too much.
Most indicators suggest that their advancement is way below their expected goals, so it's not unrealistic to surmise they may face higher than expected casualties.

Nevertheless, the death figures are likely to be exaggerated and/or misinterpreted with casualties.

One wonders whether some are being kept back in case NATO attack - we know it’s not likely but he’d have to have forces available to deal with it, especially with something like 70% of their army devoted to the invasion.

Maybe they’re hoping for the Ukrainians to give in, before cranking up the heat some more

They did say they didn’t want to occupy the country. Although you can’t trust Putin obviously

Maybe, but I think they still have 800k of regular soldiers and a million reserves ready for that contingency.

In a different way, it to an extent correlates with recent assumptions by the US and co. in terms how they'd deploy some of their newer materials.

On paper, they have some key weapons such as new armour (tanks and IFV), electronic warfare and anti-air platforms at their disposal within their arsenal.

Yet regardless of they may spout, they're in limited capacity and untested; they may keeping them back to protect them or fear they'll fall to western intelligence.

Russia is still a materiel focused force, again regardless of what they say, so casualties of conscripted men won't bother them too much - they'll replace them.

Nor will they tell the Russian public the true casualty figures. However, can they afford to loose their new, costly equipment in ambushes? Perhaps not.

The Ukrainians are hitting logistics too. The MOD have reported again that the main columns are still bogged down a distance away from Kyiv.

Honestly at this point, and bearing in mind what has happened in numerous corrupt regimes in the past in terms of “padding”, one wonders whether those people actually as actual trained, effective soldiers or whether they exist only in the accounts.

Most Russian soldiers serve a one-year conscription contract - it's fluff all. For comparison, British army training is a minimum of twenty-three weeks alone.

A lot of their troops will be fighting with little to no experience of basic training, let alone combat. Their tactics, as now displayed, are viewed as inefficient too.
