Honestly at this point, and bearing in mind what has happened in numerous corrupt regimes in the past in terms of “padding”, one wonders whether those people actually as actual trained, effective soldiers or whether they exist only in the accounts.

In a different way, it to an extent correlates with recent assumptions by the US and co. in terms how they'd deploy some of their newer materials.

On paper, they have some key weapons such as new armour (tanks and IFV), electronic warfare and anti-air platforms at their disposal within their arsenal.

Yet regardless of they may spout, they're in limited capacity and untested; they may keeping them back to protect them or fear they'll fall to western intelligence.

Russia is still a materiel focused force, again regardless of what they say, so casualties of conscripted men won't bother them too much - they'll replace them.

Nor will they tell the Russian public the true casualty figures. However, can they afford to loose their new, costly equipment in ambushes? Perhaps not.

The Ukrainians are hitting logistics too. The MOD have reported again that the main columns are still bogged down a distance away from Kyiv.

They’re likely keeping their powder dry - hoping for a surrender, hence Putin’s calls yesterday for the army to turn on the leadership. If they don’t, then they’ll raise the heat incrementally.

While they may not have advanced far as they would like, outside the city centers it’s clear they aren’t being kicked out and pretty much have the run of the place.

If Putin's forces are repelled by little old Ukraine alone (which has been the counter narrative) he really will look a plum, given the feeling is he's trying to assert Russia's strength as a global player.

Britain says no to all Ukrainians fleeing invasion, what lovely "global" country we are!
The opposite to this is the Irish government has waived all visa requirements for families of Ukrainians resident in Ireland.

I'm not surprised but I am dissapointed.

In the south and east it probably is true though.

And that’s fair enough as you would expect the majority of ukraines defence to head towards Kiev.

Agree if you concentrate on the road to Kiev.

I guess it depends on how much of their hand Russia has shown.

As NATO reports, they’ve almost reduced it to a non-war situation, presumably waiting for the surrender.

I’m not even going to pretend I know the half of it (unlike many in the internet age who read an article or two, take a concrete position then speak with undeserved authority), but there doesn’t seem to be much appetite for this aside from the bell running the country. Sending young men to Ukraine to die on his behalf for a cause they probably don’t believe in. Knocks me sick. And that’s before you even think about the poor Ukrainians themselves. No idea where the absolute coward is right now but I hope some hero puts a bullet in his head. The majority of people just want to live quiet, simple lives of their choosing.

As for not letting Ukrainians into our country, imagine if the shoe was on the other foot and they closed their borders, despicable.
