It’s not going to happen in the way you hope Dave.
One of the reasons that I’ve thrown in my hand and want Russia to win this by total subjugation of Ukraine is because I see it as the only road to peace. They cannot and will not be driven out of Ukraine.
NATO and the west are insane and won’t stop simply because they can’t handle the idea of a rival power succeeding.

As I've said all along: I don't see this as a zero sum game. There has to be some deal that leaves Russia feeling safe and Ukraine the chance to establish nation-hood.
Loads of conflicts through time have looked intractable, but they always end and its usually a deal that ends them rather than a rout for one side over the other.
