We all saw the reactions of Russian people when Prigozhin started his march to Moscow unopposed to cheers and celebrations on the streets.. I do believe that at that time Russians believed he was going all the way to Moscow to overthrow the regime..
Putin rules through fear the actual thoughts of people will remain thoughts.
Prigozhin the man who was responsible for executing the war in a very violent and bloody manner.
Frustrated in fact with the slow pace of it.
This patriot Cheered and celebrated on his march for his accomplishments in enlarging the Russian state.
Unopposed only as Putin didn’t want bloodshed on the streets. Unopposed also because Putin knew he had nothing to fear from him.

His crime - and it was a crime - was disillusionment with the way the war was being run not necessarily the war itself and hoping he could garner support for a coup.
