As I said: all intractable situations look that way in the short term and then they happen.
So actually you be ok with this carrying on with this for a half decade or more as in your view there’s no other option other than a neat demarcation?

No timescales whatsoever in terms of how long the bloodshed should be allowed to continue?

You think its more realistic for Ukraine to say welcome foreign hoards take some of our land but you've got to promise you won't come back for more once you've built back up stockpiles.. You don't make deals with Putin, Prigozhin made a deal with Putin and how did that work out?
The realities on the ground are that Ukraine cannot eject Russia from the areas occupied.

I agree Russia may well want the lot and tbf I’ve never denied it.

In exchange for them not taking the lot you’d be ok for tens maybe even hundreds of thousands of your people die?

Some sacrifice indeed.

If Trump or any other Republican win the next election this war will be all but over by the end of their first term.

This could play into the race to become POTUS. The latino vote is huge there...

The Mexican president Andrés Manuel López Obrador on Monday panned US military spending on Ukraine as “irrational,” stepping up criticism of the war effort as he urged Washington to devote more resources to helping Latin American countries.

López Obrador has long called on the US to devote more funds to helping economic development in Central America and the Caribbean in order to ease migratory pressures.

During his regular daily press conference, López Obrador criticised the US Congress for not freeing up money for the region, before making reference to wrangling last week on a stopgap funding bill that stripped out further aid for Ukraine, Reuters reports.

He said:

I was just looking at how now they’re not authorising aid for the war in Ukraine.
But how much have they destined for the Ukraine war? $30-50bn for the war. Which is the most irrational thing you can have. And damaging.

And if Biden wins what’s your view?
Then he'll try and continue to conduct a proxy war against Russia, but the real foreign policy goal is now India and wooing it away from China. They are not in Ukraine's camp so that will be compromising for Biden.

There's tens even hundreds of thousands of Russians dying for this too.. a fact that seems to get ignored by you.. how many Russians should be sacrificed? I wonder do russians feel that holding 15% of Ukraine is worth the many dead they have.

I don’t think they are as against the conflict as you think

Aside from the casualty rate which is clearly an issue it’s not Russia that is being razed to the ground frankly

A point not lost on the Ukrainians as they attempt to ‘hurt’ Russia with their puny attacks

I guess we may never know.. getting locked up if you announce you are against the war most likley skews the figures..
I think the war has broad support and Putin has genuine popularity.

Ukrainians know this as they have regularly blamed the russian population for supporting the war

That's true.

There's no doubting that Putin and his policy on Ukraine receive overwhelming popular support in Russia.

We all saw the reactions of Russian people when Prigozhin started his march to Moscow unopposed to cheers and celebrations on the streets.. I do believe that at that time Russians believed he was going all the way to Moscow to overthrow the regime..
Putin rules through fear the actual thoughts of people will remain thoughts.
