If you did then you'd see how the ground was prepared for the rise of an autocrat.

I don't know mate. In the counter attack phase of this war, for sure. The Ukrainian leadership threw their own men to the wolves: picked off in their thousands by drones and helicopters or else blown up by mines.

Regrettably, they fell for the wests propaganda and embarked on a ruinous course of action. As I said the propaganda victory was the wests. thats what won the cold war for them.

Russia might have been fine but the other USSR countries who were basically under Moscow rule weren't fine.. if things were so great back then, we probably wouldn't be seeing them flocking to NATO for protection to avoid going back under the Kremlins thumb.
The west are arming Ukraine to protect democracy and Ukrainian Freedom from a tyrannical regime who have imperial visions.
