Would be helpful to see this in a spectrum rather than right wrong black and white. Its useful to suggest people should not go balls deep into Zelenksyy narrative this also applies to Putin.

I’ve got clowns like @Noisy noise annoys and @Rita_Poon who employ that exact tactic and just reduce any debate into juvenile name calling.

In a society where white collar crime - bribery, state theft and other forms of corruption were endemic - protection payments were standard and a thriving black market economy was well established from the second world war onwards it defies belief that anyone would try to suggest otherwise.

And, yes, the West certainly played a part, but it's a small part they played compared to state.

The state was failing, Gorbachev opened it up, criminals took advantage, the state collapsed, Yeltsin took control and sold the country off. This is my version of events, and I'am sure the west was there playing some dirty tricks along the way.

Care to answer how you know the Ukrainian casualty numbers are 10x that of Russian numbers?

What's your version of events?

My version of events was that 1) US propaganda won the day, the USSR dismembered itself as a result and 2) the Chicago boys muscled in and directed them towards a path of severe and uneccessary economic pain and which also involved mass privatisation which in turn led to looting.

So on 2 counts (both of which I view as the main issues) - the west is front and centre of the problem.

Funny that most Russians do blame the west for this, and you seem to think its only a small part. I know who I'd rather believe tbh.
