For anyone who missed Newsnight's Mark Urban's first of 3 reports from the front line last night here it is (episodes 2 and 3 over the next two nights).

It shows how primitive a lot of the weaponry the Ukrainians are having to work with...something that goes under the radar of all the talk about F-16 and ATACMS.

It also talked about how, through adaption and being highly adaptive, they’ve become world leaders in Drone Warfare too.

I disagree. It shows a clear line of consistent bogus denials and claims by the Ukrainian government with includes: the Ukrainian missile that landed in Poland that killed two people and denied; the denial about the Nord Stream pipeline blown up by Ukrainian special forces; the missile attack on Kostiantynivka by Ukraine not Russia as claimed; and now the claim about Sokolov's death.

Remember: the first casualty of war is the truth. That applies to both sides.

The only economy that has tanked is the wests - and how. Russia has untold resources so what appears to be massive materiel losses here in the British isles who have zero self sufficiency in basically anything, really aren’t for them.

Storm shadows etc are all very well but the Ukrainian army has basically been all but obliterated with the counter offensive and they don’t have the capacity to do much more than the pin prick terrorist attacks we’ve seen lately. I disagree that ‘massive damage’ has been done. They generate media headlines (which are useful obviously) but no more.

They need men on the ground that they simply do not possess any more.

They are hardly going to lie about a general being killed as he will clearly rise from the dead at some point - it was an error, no more.
As for the rest of your complaints, they have been forced in to a needless war, a few acts of sabotage, subterfuge and denial are the least of my concerns.

Russia have been increasing defences and laying landmines in the Belgorod region. Doesnt say a lot for advancing when you are laying landmines on Russian soil?

Russia has announced around 50k conscripts are about to be moved up the line. Its being billed as a combined army but the readiness of these conscripts with little or no training is to be questioned.

There is no confirmation that all the required parts/equipment of a combined army are available also so it may be a combined army in name only.
