Russia has begun building direct railway links to the occupied Ukrainian cities Mariupol, Volnovakha, and Donetsk, said Petro Andriushchenko, an advisor to Melitopol’s exiled mayor – a move that could decrease Moscow’s logistical dependence on the Crimean bridge.

“In practice, this is not only a global solution to the issue of military and civilian logistics, but also a drastic reduction in dependence on railway communication via the Crimean bridge,” Andriushchenko said on Telegram.
