I'm struggling to equate his "Every man for himself" comment with the rest of his narrative

It means nation states should consider their own interests first, not allow themselves to be subsumed into some kind of global hegemony.

yea 96% in Crimea.. Do you really believe those numbers?... especialy when ethnic Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars accounted for almost 40% of the population... I can assure you that no referendum that is about Joining another country will pass by that margin without major curruption.

I don't believe there is no support for them.......far from it. I would say its a majority, almost certainly irrespective of the total returned.

Also are you against hegemony full stop or American/western hegemony?

I think it would be naiive to believe every state can take a nationalist isolationist approach maybe I am misunderstanding what your utopia looks like?

There’s no whataboutery on my part. Russia has every right to deal with the illegal maidan coup and subsequent violence against pro Russian sections of the population in the southeast of the country.

So why are they raping and murdering kids in the east of the country?

I agree that there may be a majority, but announcing 95%+ in a referendum when 40% of the population wouldn't in a million years vote for such a thing makes the whole process shady AF..
If there was a referendum that was internationally accepted as fair and it passed then I'd say let them join Russia.. no question.

well first of all pro-ukrainians were told to boycott the vote, so its likely to be realistic actually. nothing actually wrong with saying 95% in favour. what else do you want them to say? and why should they?

I didn’t mean that, I meant after the defeat failing to remove the leadership (Pelosi, Schumer, Wassermann-Schulz etc).

They’d prevented candidates rivalling Clinton to such an extent that Bernie was the only option, and continued to block up and comers unless they ignored them and did it themselves (like AOC).

In fact if, God forbid, Biden dropped dead this afternoon I bet I can name the two people who they’d start boosting.

Yet turnout was announced as 83%... so quite obviously they didn't massively boycott. To get to a 95% yes vote about 60% of the pro Ukraine people who did vote would have had to vote to join Russia.. Shady AF.
