I imagine it might be to highlight it'd be as stupid as the US claiming to predate the UK in some way. He was basically pointing at Russia and laughing. Tremendous stuff.

But Russia wasnt isolated until all this started. Hosted WC, (with Ukraine), winter Olympics, traded globally using international payment systems, owned a football club in London, all sorts of stuff being part of a global community.

Vlad being lethal with his political opponents, whilst unsavoury, is hardly his monopoly amongst world leaders is it? And as we stand, that has all gone, at his behest, for what?

I dont disagree. He's launched a war that's been catastrophic most of all for the Ukraininan people, but his actions have condemned Russia to pariah stauts in the west with all that means for Russia in terms of influence.

They shouldn't be isolated though. The BRIC economies are performing a service for us all by refusing to push the Russian regime into a corner where it can only act with desperation.

Overall we need to get to a point quickly where peace talks take over and a basis for stability in Europe again is found.

It's a complete misreading of that regime. It may have territorial ambitions to bring within it some regions of the former USSR but they know they cant over reach on that, as Ukraine has underlined. In contrast the Nazis had the means to conquer and keep lands, if they hadn't have attacked the Soviet Union.

But the Ukes have said they will only stop fighting once Crimea and everywhere else have been liberated.

The west agree with them and will fight till there aren’t any Ukrainians left to fight.

According to your logic of wanting an end to hostilities the quickest and maybe only way to get there would be a surrender by Ukraine.

Which is basically a Russian victory let’s be clear.

I agree Dave. Russia should be free to invade all neighbouring states without pesky western judgement. Great take tbh
