you are the one trying to force your viewpoint on me, tbf. and if you claim you arent well......

just giving you back what you are trying to impose on me.

you say that point of view is utterly laughable but that is the reason the Russian federation have given at least in part for this, and I understand where they are coming from. So you may laugh but it is not a non-mainstream view by any stretch.

I am not in the game of enforcing my viewpoint on anyone. And when did I claim I wasnt well? Pretty low blow that for one so "educated".

Like I said, I dont know why he invaded. You seem to know. Based on Russian MSM I assume. I just disagree, and think your analysis is laughable.

I stand by my other comments, but I apologise for accusing you of saying I wasnt well. I misread your post.

My former advisor became the Vice Chancellor of Cambridge; I remember her telling me Cambridge was celebrating its 700th anniversary and this blew my mind. (wouldn't make me irritated, though, as an American)
To be fair, 'sending him off' was more of an ongoing reflection. The delight he had at finding things/places that we take for granted was always either interesting or great fun to watch.

Not as generosity, but out of neccessity. The US's shameless extension of its reach into directly attempting to control regions next to the country with the most nuclear weapons on the planet is a recipe for battle lines to be drawn.

Your viewpoint is of course the standard line 'putin invaded illegally and without justification'
I also find it's a necessity to bomb civilian populations when the US stretches it's reach too far.

Some absolutely hilarious claims/opinions in that article

There are mad bits, and at times it seems more to be part of an arms brochure for the Israeli defence industry, but there are bits in it that are absolutely worth repeating.

He correctly points out that we (NATO) are still not seriously looking at replacing what we are giving to the Ukrainians, never mind increasing our own military forces. It took a year for significant orders to be made and for supply lines to start to be rebuilt, and even that was partial. Most of the alliance has reacted to this threat to its existence (and their existence as independent states) by still not going above the 2% level on defence, and for most of this conflict we were resolutely committed to cutting the army even further.

I know there is a great pressure for people to be happy campers at this point in time, but if anyone looks at the current state of NATO (especially the European bit) and sees nothing that makes them fearful then they are not paying attention. Things have to improve very quickly or by 2024 we could really find ourselves in the metaphorical prison shower with the soap loose at our feet.

And in WW2 the majority of the worlds population backed Hitler.

How did that work out?

Maybe you recall the US saying "Not my problem", until it was.

If you want other examples, the majority of people voted for Trump, The Tories, Brexit.

People are stupid.
Putin is not Hitler.

The equation is spurious.
