I should disclose though on posting the above without comment, that I'd have switched Facebook (and Twitter) off for the entire UK once COVID took hold.

Why should Ukraine not be allowed to join NATO or EU, though?I think Ukraine would be very sensible to negotiate from the position broadly outlined by Macron and Yanis V recently. Let go of any idea of joining Nato/EU. Insist upon no Russian control. Allow the Russian areas to have self determination in exchange for them having self determination. That would be reasonable.
They should then conduct a process of De-nazisification, but I doubt they will.
Yep, Ive voiced my opinion on this in other threads. Unsurprisingly, Zat is also pro Israel! As @Wat Tyler said, it's probably for another thread. There's a lot of things that the IDF have done and will continue to do that's beyond the pale.
That'll learn 'em
by 'broken international law' you mean invaded a country that Russia have been meddling with for generations anyway (but especially in the last eight years), caused the deaths of possibly 1,000s of his own people within a day, and countless Ukrainian lives, put the continent and ergo world on the brink of a war, left a good chunk of Ukraine in ruins and set that nation back generations?Hes just broken international law.
2 wrongs dont make a right though.
I think they're currently demonstrating that. Why should Ukraine not be allowed to join NATO or EU, though?
What power does Russia have over that? Why should they have that right?
For the same reason Mexico or Canada would be prevented from joining an alliance headed by Russia. One of the major powers doesn't want it.Why should Ukraine not be allowed to join NATO or EU, though?

There's been mass protests in St Petersburg and organised protests in Moscow. While of course it's not going to be the straw that broke the camels back, the Russian people love their televised concerts, it's a way of life there that we could barely fathom.
It will be annoying to Joe public and give them enough reasons to moan hopefully that message feeds back to Putin and Co.
Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania all border Russia and are all in NATO. So that argument doesn't stand up.For the same reason Mexico or Canada would be prevented from joining an alliance headed by Russia.
Whilst I agree with you, I think some sort of decree that Ukraine would not join NATO would be a fair compromise. As another poster has said, would the USA allow Mexico to join an alliance headed by Russia? Why should Ukraine not be allowed to join NATO or EU, though?

I get that, but why should they not be allowed to join the EU as Catcher suggested (aren't they already in it?).Whilst I agree with you, I think some sort of decree that Ukraine would not join NATO would be a fair compromise. I've seen a few saying that he's quite ill and possibly wants to see an empire expand before he clocks out. There's been mass protests in St Petersburg and organised protests in Moscow.
Athletes and Russian celebrities have been coming out for a while calling for peace.
The vast majority of that country do not want a war or care for Putin's petty games. But he'll go ahead with them anyway.
They're not demonstrating that they have a right, they have no right.
