Really hoping Russia gets a proper bloody nose here. The Russian military has been over-hyped for as long as time, but people need to remember that the Russian economy is comparable to Australia or Spain, not the US or even Western European powers. This could easily develop in to a very messy stalemate and/or insurgency, and Russia will cripple their economy trying to maintain it.

Easy to pose for a photo, then head back to a safe spot.
Edit: the op later posts that "this photo was not taken today"
I'm against what Russia are doing here 100% but lets not forget that Ukraine are well able to publish propaganda too.
Edit#2: a reverse image search shows that the photo was taken on the 2nd of January when he went to meet reservists at a traning camp.

Photo may be old but he's still there now and both brothers are staying to fight. How many other millionaires fight in a war? They normally run off to a safe haven.

got ya

Russian - and now Chinese - money has infiltrated the west for years, and western politics.

Let's not forget the Labour MP who just last month was found to have received £500k in Chinese funding.

I'm not saying it's not wrong or that you are incorrect. But does that take away from what any government is trying to do now?

Biden is useless - we know that and so does Putin. Johnson is useless. The EU leaders have been shown up to be useless. As if the last two years hadn't taught us that.

Of course, US and UK interfere with elections across the world. As does China, Russia etc. They do it to to instill a leader/regime that benefits them for one reason or another.

The fact that Russian dark money was used to back Johnson/Trump and vote leave is exactly the same. All 3 benefit Putin and Russia

Putin now asking for talks.

I'm no expert in this... But given the poor start to the campaign etc is he going to look for a way out that saves face here?

Do Ukraine accept an offer on the promise of neutrality? Or go for the jugular here?

Accept talks with a precondition that the invading forces retreat to the border (so Russia, Belarus and the breakaway republics). Suggest that they’ll recognise the independence of the republics, too.

I think Ukraine would be very sensible to negotiate from the position broadly outlined by Macron and Yanis V recently. Let go of any idea of joining Nato/EU. Insist upon no Russian control. Allow the Russian areas to have self determination in exchange for them having self determination. That would be reasonable.

They should then conduct a process of De-nazisification, but I doubt they will.

I agree apart from the self-determination bit; whilst they are technically part of Ukraine there will always be an invitation to interfere.
