No it doesn't make it right, but it makes it the reality.

My take on this is that it's all well and good people on the sidelines in the west talking up 'sacrifice' and 'victory' and denigrating talk of peace, but when they're in no danger from this war then that's a luxury they can afford. Ukrainian bodies are being piled up in the hundreds in massive mortuaries and I find it a macabre spectacle when I read people wanting them to be topped up even more with a continuation of this meat grinder.

The reality is what it is; there will be no breakthrough Russian lines; there will be no 'victory'. It's what happens when a military super-power is challenged. It shouldn't happen but there it is. Realpolitik.

It comes to something when you start to wonder if Trump geting elected again might have any sort of upside to it if he got in and put this to bed.

That's how desperate this situation is as a humanitarian catastrophe.

This analysis would have looked great during the Russo/Afghan war too

There's a level of post which demonstrates ignorance long suspected but never quite proven. There was a discussion about letting this type of post slide but it so certain while being indisputably stupid that you can't resist.

Aboriginal has no context and is meaningless in a linguistic discussion.

As far back as history records invaders have denigrated opposing cultures as "inferior" and language is an easy starting point to assume superiority. What's troubling here is a marked shift in content from Ukronazis - let's not overlook the complete absence of irony in pro-Russian claims of linguistic superiority mimicking the speeches of Goebbels when attacking Jewush culture and later Slavonic languages.

The idea of primivity in language has been discounted for almost one hundred years, a language is merely a tool for communicating it is as simple or as complex (linguistically) as is required.

I hope the "professors" the original poster invented will supply better grist for this particular mill going forward.

As the piece says, it is dismal that any talk of negotiations are seized on as appeasement. That has to change. And as one Ukrainain commentator stated, the time iot changes is when every person in Ukraine has suffered a loss of some sort...and that cant be too far off.

Ukraine's corrupt political class have let their people down. They continue to do that as long as they're getting arms and public support in the west....the west who's only worries are to keep inflation down and keep their plates piled high and cookers and heaters on in the winter.
