No mate, if there is any kind of system or document showing where mines are both sides will quickly know it. Ok Sergei the mines must be placed exactly 2.3 meters between each other, running in a north west direction. Or there is a fairly big piece of land and several hundred miles of front line and hundreds of ill trained soldiers just putting them in while moving backwards….you takes your choice…..
And it probably suits the EU and US that Putin is "busy" in Ukraine, I see no reason why they would be in any hurry to end this war.

So, apart from the likes of Germany who screwed themslaves on Russian energy, what are the benefits to the USA of doing a deal. They are losing no troops, Russia is weakening by the day, the West is trying out and learning Russia’s war capabilities while testing armaments. Yes it’s costing money, but day by day Russia is becoming politically, financially and militarily weaker. Why would the USA or U.K. realistically give up supporting them……

First of all, Russia is a minnow in economic terms, even below the U.K. on its own. The USA, U.K., EU and other NATO combined blow both Russia, and indeed China away.
The for what is the fact that Russia has been the bogeyman on the east for a long time. This bogeyman image is being destroyed day by day, tank by tank and materially. No one is frightened of Russia anymore. Certainly they cannot threaten NATO without being completely destroyed and they now know this, hence all the regular threat of nuclear etc etc, but no one believes it anymore. They are a busted flush in hock to China and trying to look like a power which little Ukraine is demolishing every day. Ukraine will be rebuilt, just as Germany was, and their people will live under the safeguard of NATO, as Sweden and Finland have recently chosen………

This country is falling to pieces economically that much is obvious. We are the country where food banks rampant inflation and daily strikes are the norm.
As for Ukraine reconstituting itself, we already last week have had nato officials calling for ceding of territory in exchange for peace.
None of which would be accepted by Russia anyway.
According to Medvedev the whole of Ukraine must be crushed :

Yet, we can't halt until the inherently hostile Ukrainian state is dismantled, destroyed utterly. It must never rise again, even from ashes. Hence, the only solution is to completely control the hostile state's machinery and secure loyalty for the future. Russia's control over the former Bandera state is necessary, and is a goal we will achieve.

If it were a NATO war though wouldn't we still use the modern warfare route? Gain air superiority, bomb all targets and stop the supply chain to the dug in positions. You can then let them starve/run out of ammunition or bomb the crap out of them from above and/or invade from the rear of those positions.
