No, Putin and the European gas and oil importers not directly threatened by Putin at present were the winners. Ukraine, the Baltics, and the credibility of Biden and NATO were the losers.

The failure to remove Russia from SWIFT is a massive signal of deep divisions within NATO regarding how to deal with a warmongering Russia. It says that Western allies aren't willing to cause themselves some financial pain that might cost them some votes in order to send a clear message about how seriously they are taking this particular matter. If that's the case, it leaves open to question just how seriously they take collective security.
 
I'm ashamed of the west and our so called leaders - an absolute disgrace how we have left the ukranians to defend themselves. Sanctions are a complete waste of time, and they couldn't even hit them with the big one (swift) - cowardly and inept the entire lot of them.

Nobody wins in war, except the very rich, who are already profiteering from the bloodshed of innocents. Same as Gaza, same as Syria.

I'm gutted for the loss of life on both sides of this stupid, unnecessary war - the Russian men will probably be babies conscripted in, cannon fodder - I'm sure they didn't want this.

The poor ukranians fighting for their country and way of life certainly didn't want this.

God bless to all involved in this mess in Ukraine - it's a very sick world we live in.

Tonight we joined hundreds of Ukrainians to protest in Barcelona, won’t change anything but my wife needed to feel she was doing something, was good to get away from news channels for a bit, we sang, prayed and cursed Putin together and sent videos back home to family to show them they don’t stand alone, sadly it seems they do.

Tomorrow we will go again.

I suppose the reduction of Goodison into glowing dust in the nuclear fireball from that strike is one way to avoid relegation.

That is a big problem, I actually thought Starmer spoke well on this issue

Absolutley terrible mate, we are an absolute disgrace and laughing stock.

Mad Vlad knew he could do whatever he wanted after all his sabre rattling and building up of troops at the border and the complete pack of any credible response from the west prior to invasion.

If we are Ukraine's allies they don't need any bloody enemies!
 
For what its worth, I think the next few days will be horrific.

Couple of things Putin has said in his ramblings stand out. He talked about bringing justice to bear against people who have stood against Russia but the phrase he used doesnt mean judicial justice.

There is videos and pictures of vehicles that would be used to transport prisoners back to Russia. Their elite battle experience troops have not been sent in, seems to be mostly conscripts for the most part. Lots of reports that they had no idea where they were going - thought they were just on manoeuvres etc.

I think the real invasion happens when they secure a couple of landing strips. It'll be over in a week to ten days of horror before sanctions mean anything.
