I am not sure the UA are gonna sit back at any time soon, winter or no winter.

Nor me, they won’t want to give Russia a chance to rebuild its forces, lost weapons and ammunition nor the bridges etc, but I’m sure we will read various professional viewpoints over the coming days……

If you wield power through force and threat, once you're made to look weak and ineffectual, it's just a matter of time before you're gone. Add into that his age, and the need to return to the international fold to some degree then I think a change could happen over a fairly short timeline.

Having said that if the conflict freezes over winter and Russia hunkers down and ensures a grip of the land corridor to Crimea and large swathes of the Donbass, and keeps hitting Ukrainian infrastructure, he could be grinning his botox grin again come spring.

Yeah, I think this is a good point. Hes had an iron grip on the country but purely through threat and force. When hes made to look weak, and consistently so, hes lost all of his power.

- Managed to seize one major city (which is about to be reclaimed by the Ukes).

- Lost tens of thousands of men, billions in equipment, made their armed forces an utter laughing stock.

- Call up hundreds of thousands of piss-can tramps from the far flung reaches of Russia to use as cannon fodder.

- Trashed their reputation as a military power and shown their own hardware to be utterly appalling (and as a result I’d expect exports to be badly affected).

- Had to buy second rate [Poor language removed] from other pariahs like Iran and North Korea just to be able to keep going.

- United the evil West to levels not seen in the last 50 plus years.

- Plunged the country into a deep recession with a mass exodus of foreign investors.

- Shown their politicians to be utter shitehawk cowards and that’s not to mention the despot bellend who caused it all.

- Forced Europe source alternate fossil fuel suppliers and have to offer it to the likes of the Chinese and Indians for dirt cheap just to shift it.

- Made a cult hero out of Zelensky and turned Ukraine into a country that’s admired and respected for their efforts in the face of such atrocities.

There’s not a single metric that can be used as an indicator of any kind of success in all of this utter shambles.

The Russian people have shown themselves, by and large, to be a nation of utter cowards IMO for their complicity by failing to make any attempt at a stand or protest as per Iran etc.

Couldn't be put any simpler, truer or better mate.

Admitting they’re losing, recognising their weaknesses and adapting their plans accordingly could, arguably, help them more than hinder.

While the retreat from Kherson shows they’re recognising their position, they still require a huge shift in mindset for those in political and military power.

Throwing more untrained troops to a weakly defended front isn’t going to fix the problem, at all; their military arsenal is sliding into a sink hole.
