The FT reporting that among people killed in today's civilian Russian drone attack was a young married couple who were expecting their first child.

The mother to be was six months pregnant!

If true (no reason to think it's not) then it's a tradgedy.
How would you feel if your family was targeted like these unfortunate people?
Same way everyone feels during a war mate -

We seen in the Middle East what happens to people whose children, siblings and family members got killed by foreign armies rampaging through their lands, they become terrorists (in eyes of those who they fighting back).

Fortunately Ukraine got weapons to fight back more effectively, then those poor sods over there

I think the Iranian drones are the game changers in this war. Pretty much all the anti-air missile systems provided by the West seem to do horribly against them.

Actually Ukraine has a pretty high rate of intercepting them which should only go up once more advanced AA systems are sent to them. Also Russia is currently using these drones to terrorize Kyiv and kill civilians which imo will only increase Ukraine's will to fight.

They are indeed potential game changers for Iran. Iran is already facing the biggest test to its dictatorship with a popular uprising, and now they are about to be hit with sanctions that will just fuel the internal fire. An arrogant misstep on their part and one they are already trying to backpedal from, saying they wouldnt supply drones to Russia. Also, supposedly Russia has almost burned through most of the drones it bought so far as they get shot down at high rates.

What it goes to show is that A. Russia is out of their own stuff. B. They cant effectively hit Ukraine's military C. They are desperate to get Ukraine to quit their current offensive and are scared of losing all of their murder-gains.

The Kamikaze drones are useless in reality against moving targets mate, they are faf in reality with pre inputted GPS location I believe (makes them weirdly immune to certain counter defense too). Basically they're being used to target civilian infrastructure, fixed military points (command centres, barracks, repair depots, ammunition depots, fuel dunos etc)

Not sure what you've seen reported where you are fully, if the focus is entirely on them hitting Kiev etc, but they've been getting used a lot to hit across the front targeting the supply/storage/command.

Stories about a new much higher payload combat drone arriving (sy already have) also, which if true is worrying fir Ukraine.

That isn't necessarily that much of a strength tbf - it allows the defenders to focus their anti-air stuff on those points, and it doesn't have to be that serious anti-air given the reports of cops shooting them down today. I am also not sure about the GPS - which can (and repeatedly has been) blocked or spoofed, more likely is some form of INS (as an aside I've always thought what3words must have some of background in that sort of thing, given its potential accuracy and lack of obvious means by which it could be messed with)

As for their effectiveness, I am not sure they are any more or less effective than most of the other drones we've seen so far. Relatively speaking they are cheap and work against soft, unprotected immobile targets but you could say that about the vast majority of weapon-carrying aircraft down the years.

I have an inkling that the Russians will be using the drones as a method of attrition against the Ukrainian air defences: identify positions; use resources.

While it will sadly cause civilian causalities, it may be sensible for the Ukrainians to not commit too many resources to counter them, just yet.
