I think most noticeable is literally nothing coming out of the UK/US media also, not even a mention of what seems to be a hell of a lot of fighting atm, which is very unusual.
It's front-page on CNN this morning.

That said, it has generally been relegated to the background because the UK is in internal crisis and we have an election coming up in less than a month.

Oh the strikes on Kiev are getting press, but not seeing anything whatsoever on what is arguably the most intensive combat thus far taking into account the area it encompasses, normally even with a Ukraine ban on its own press reporting you'd see various stories popping up in the US media especially - quoting unnamed sources inside the US - the absence of any of this imo lends credibility to the 'its going badly' on the ground narrative.

My own thoughts is something has changed markedly since the Kharkov debacle and now, Stoltenberg the other day day saying about a defeat would be a defeat for NATO was something that went largely unnoticed in terms of what it was implying (not something you'd expect to hear unless defeat looked a serious proposition imo)

Reports on pressure to 'score a big victory' to help the Dems in the US midterms - not sure if that's chatter it has any meat to it either.

Get a letter drafting you into Putins war adventure and told to go to Ukraine and kill Ukrainians. Ten days later you are dead. Welcome to Putins Russia.

Remember what i was saying about the Moscow times being a propoganda outlets mate very anti Russian.

You read that story about a 40yo lawyer being sent to his death, and it shouts out they are throwing conscripts in untrained and unprepared - yes?

Here's the background on the 40yo lawyer that the Moscow times didn't deem relevant to include in its article.

Andrei Nikiforov (left) is described as a "lawyer from St Petersburg" who at the age of 40 was killed on October 7th in Lysichansk, just 10 days after being mobilised. The detail which is missing from Western sources is that since the late 1990s until June 2022, Andrei was a member of one of Russia's elite special forces units. His combat experience began in the second Chechen war, and he remained in active service until 2022. During the last years of his service he studied law, the practice of which he had just started since his discharge only 4 months ago. There should be no surprise that his time from mobilization to deployment was short.

But again you choose to only look at things through the lens of Putins propoganda.

From what you have just posted.

"During the last years of his service he studied law, the practice of which he had just started since his discharge only 4 months ago. There should be no surprise that his time from mobilization to deployment was short."

So he was a practicing lawyer, called up and killed as reported by the MT and I note the only of those in the article you focus upon. You do see this, right?

There are no independent news sources allowed in Russia, only Putins propoganda outlets. It is indicative of how bad things are under Putin that indi media outlets such as MT have to opperate elsewhere if they wish to report anything that is not within the limits of Putins propoganda. Even nobel prize winning Novaya Gazeta has been closed.

The MT is fine as long as the reader has not been brainwashed by years of Kremlin manipulation.

So it's brainwashed to think that an independent (?) news outlet, writing a story specifically focusing on the death of mobilised people focusing especially on one case of a 40yo lawyer, shouldn't have pointed out that he'd been a lawyer for 4 months but not mentioning that was after spending 20+ years in the military including special forces and including a lot of combat experience?

one of the others killed btw was a former black beret from the navy.

including both of those in the context of the article completely changes the entire narrative the writer wants to portray though doesn't it?

which is the essence of propoganda not of independent journalism mate. Omitting facts which don't fit the agenda if what you want the reader to believe after reading.

or are you saying you didn't read their article and immediately post it here to show how Russia is sending people with no training or experience into combat, which when you realise they they weren't just blokes off the street who had no idea or training, it alters the story massively

I believe that you have said that you teach English so I assume you will have a grasp of the definitions of ‘mobilisation’ and ‘reservist

Here is what your glorious leader Putin stated regarding the mobilisation of reservists.

“Only military reservists, primarily those who served in the armed forces and have specific military occupational specialties and corresponding experience, will be called up…”

Shoigu also clarified that the partial mobilization will deploy 300,000 additional soldiers, who have military experience and specialized training.

As per the norm with anything coming out of Russia, and particularly the Kremlin, this was not exactly true and they are dragging individuals from outside this target group – but the intent is clear.

Can you see how this relates to the article, Comrade Steveski?

I see the MT also ran the above linked UN findings on Russia using rape as a military strategy.

The horrible swines

Fully understand the terminology thanks - do you understand that anyone over the age of 18 and male is a reservists effectively in Russia?

Key word you seem to have missed

Yes ofc, but if they have to factual alter the information so it supports the story - or omit information so it gives a completely wrong impression then it's propoganda not journalism, can you not see that point?
