There is a hierarchy of horrors.

Super priority at all times are Gay nazi satanists and the general population

The rhetoric has changed markedly the last month. It's playing to the lowest base level imo and hate to see it, the Nazi thing - no problem as it exists and was influential, the rest is just playing to prejudices inside far too many people.

Not sure about that. Massive grey area. If you look back then the rightful owner of Taiwan was the Qing Dynasty. They then ceded Taiwan to Japan. The ROC / PRC didn’t even exist at that time.

I think also when Japan surrendered to the US they ceded territory - but I’m not sure if Taiwan was part of that.

Won't argue with you about it mate, as my knowledge isn't up there with other subjects, it's certainly a great area due to as you said the ROC/POC issue in combination with WW2 and the aftermath of former Japanese territories being ceded to countries by various treaties (the islsnds Russia has another example of that).

Realist in me knows China sees it as an existential threat to 'lose' which is why it's a powder keg

They also gave land away to Russia (Quin dynasty) in the Amur treaty due to there weakness at the time.

Taiwan is a very very big mess in waiting, the best solution I can see would be one where they are part of China but are allowed a large degree of autonomy from the mainland (legally it is Chinese territory).

Absolutely not.

The time of empires and occupation is over. The world is too connected and peoples educated to varying degrees. If you want to open claims of ancient empire then the Mongols might have something to say.

Free peoples is the path the world will follow, regardless of Putin and Xi best efforts.
