I don't see it. He cannot do it alone and those around him know that if they did consequences would come knocking at Moscow. They have been warned. Putin is terrified of death and has tried to keep his children away from the public eye to protect them. The fact that he gets botox is indicative of a mindset clinking to youth and life, as does his young girlfried. Even if he was dereanged enough to try and commit a nuclear strike the military have demeonstrated in previous crisis that they are not so aligned to political posturing (Petrov, Arkipov etc).
Putin goes nuclear then military reactions from NATO aside he loses any support from China and any lingering state actors not in full condemnation, yet. Russias position as a pariah state would be cemented. The global threat that such an action would pose would create unity behind the need to neatralise further risk and for regime change, dismantling the Kremlins WMD and would firmly open the door to to independence of Federation states currently under the regimes boot.
The west cannot allow this strategy to work i.e. invade a state, call a sham referendum, threaten nuclear strike if challenged. If they did and the regime wsa allowed to remain the model would be used again and again to Ukraine was no more and the Baltic states or anywhere else under their eye too.
It is not a great situation and Russia and Russians not proactively against this have to own it. Similar for western leaders that have allowed us to get to this point through previous inaction. They see this now.

Being suspicious of the propaganda that is stoking the fighting isn't deflecting, I've only ever tried to highlight how flawed the reports have been,eg only a few weeks ago UK newspaper headlines that North Korea had sold thousands of missiles to Russia then only a day or so ago its reported GCHQ state Russia is running low on missiles... meanwhile innocent civilians are still dying. Another day and still no US calls for a ceasefire leading to any meaningful talks.

Some graphic pictures of Russian troops attack on the central market in Avdiivka this morning, killing at least seven people and wounding eight. Absolutely shocking that they keep targeting civilians.
Fair enough.
But when you repeatedly highlight the flaws from one side, and constantly deflect when asked about the flaws from the other side, I'm sure you can see why people may think you are actually in support of the invaders?

That's their right to interpret posts in any way they see fit. I have stated in the thread that I believe Putin is a dangerous psychopath yet the usual suspects see that as in some way supportive. It's all very well for posters wanting the fighting to continue until Russia is pushed back to it's pre annexation of Crimea borders. All very laudable in principle,but maybe not if you are a Ukrainian who's been living in a bomb shelter for the last six months?

Again you get it wrong. North Korea sold small arms ammunition and 152mm artillery shells to Russia NOT MISSILES.

On topic, it's massively concerning the narrative that's coming out of the Kremlin, it always is but the bridge attack has them publicly pegged. That's a major tourism route, they can't hide that from your everyday Joe even with the spin/censorship. They're losing the war, they are going to escalate further, they have a sh tonne of nukes and you look at the posturing. He's getting desperate, his economy is hammered, running out of trained troops, his pals have had their yachts clamped, running out of munitions and supply lines are smashed to bits heading into winter. A cornered dog and all that. I don't see how there is any negotiation that ends this.
