I admittedly have little idea about the strategic and logistical situation with Taiwan but presumably being a relatively small island will make it way harder for them to hold off an equivalent advance from China?

Sorry I’m in same boat as you - that would be my assumption but not a subject have much knowledge of.

On a very basic level, the Taiwanese have less space in which to fall back and regroup. Their strategic position, as far as my rudimentary understanding goes, is distinctly poor due to the geography involved.

You’d also assume that China are looking at some lessons of this war eg drone usage and the need for air superiority and revising their plans.

It would be very troubling. Land mass does make a difference viewing the Ukrainian situation with Taiwan. Russia could never control Ukraine with the forces it had. It was a failed program from the start. Now they will have guerilla warfare spilling over into Russia.

SoI shoing your refusal to denounce Russian atrocities against defenceless civilians is not remotely comparable to the Spanish Inquisition.

I don't question your distrust of US motives and actions, and SOME of your criticism thereof is justified and laudable.

I question why it is you cannot offer a criticism of Putin's illegal and barbaric assault on civilians in their thousands, when doing so would not in any way contradict your rational distrust of the US. The two are not mutually logically exclusive.

You are making a deliberate effort to repeatedly refuse to criticise Russia. Why? Such criticism would not undermine or devalue your stated position re the US / the West / NATO. Therefore you are choosing to remain silent about the torture, rape and murder of civilians. That silence begs questions - questions that several of us have put to you and you repeatedly refuse to answer.

What other conclusion can be drawn? If you don't want to be accused of hating Ukrainians and supporting Putin's genocidal orgy of criminal violence, stop pointedly refusing to identify it as worthy of criticism.

So you think I need to justify my posts on this thread to a nobody on the internet? I stated clearly I have never posted critically of the Ukrainian people and have never posted supporting Putin or the Russian invasion. If you can't grasp that it's not my problem.

I can categorically guarantee that neither of them would share such views in public. The reception they would get in any pub up or down the entire British Isles for spouting such hateful, pro-Nazi bile would see them removed from the premises with uncomfortable haste.

Yup instead ukranians so much mate, it's why I have several Ukranians students we have several family friends from Ukraine and my son's kindergarten teacher is Ukranian, out of a particular nasty spite for them both the school of my eldest and the kindergarten of my youngest have been doing collections for the kids of Donbass for the past 4 years - that I know of - which I've got my son's to always write a personal message with their package each time including both of them sending things they loved because I explained these kids have nothing.
