A peacekeeping force would only take position after a ceasefire had been negotiated, but sadly the US who effectively call the shots in the West are making too much money out of the present situation.
*does full Lewis Black double-take complete with sound effects*

I don't think you understand how confrontations between nuclear powers work. May I recommend Essence of Decision by Graham Allison? Good starting point.

So you are a fully fledged internet certified international diplomat? Do impart your vast knowledge.

I did work in international relations for years, and presented original research on nuclear weapons states. So, yes, in this case I happen to know more than you about this particular subject.

Short version on this one: the US might have the ability to force a cease-fire, but there's also no way the US is going to risk escalating things right up to nuclear war. If you want an abstract treatment of the subject that's readable at an undergraduate level, (Nobel laureate) Thomas Schelling wrote an excellent book on the subject called The Strategy of Conflict. The sections on brinkmanship are particularly relevant.

My earlier sentiments still stand, and arguably are backed up by what's been reported today.

If they were to, I have doubts about their impact compared to potential losses that Russia will likely struggle to ever replace in suitable numbers or at all.
They're throwing aircraft into the grinder that they can't afford to lose based on a pig-headed belief in a necessity and overvaluing their actual ability.

It's similar to the partial mobilisation and the troops and equipment that will likely be thrown to the front. They may help slow the UA advance, but at what cost.

Many more Russian mothers hearing their sons have been killed will undermine Putin's power more than anything else.

Nice cut and paste. Of course you are an expert, Facebook certified by any chance?? Internet gets more weird by the week.

Personally I think that Ukes have scored big wins against their artillery (in certain areas). So they appear to be trying to plug the gaps with CAS.

Thing is they don’t appear to have many precision guided or stand-off munitions left so are relying on dumb bombs (FAB500) released at low level. Flying low brings them into MANPAD’s and star-streak territory with the result being they’re getting whacked.

Are you actually planning to contribute anything worthwhile to this thread? Or are you just going to continue looking down your nose and sneering at people?
Unfortunately, political media these days teaches kids that ad hominem attacks are the pathway to winning an argument. If I'm being honest, I can't really blame them. It's not their fault that the example set for them is as poor as it is.

All I can do is point out the problem and hope that it works every once in a while, on them or someone else.
