Beyond the regular army, Ukraine has volunteer territorial defence units and around 900,000 reservists. Most adult males have at least basic military training, so Russia could find itself facing stubborn and protracted resistance if it tried to capture and hold onto territory.

The Ukranian army was bigger with more equipment than what the Russians went in with mate at the start of it all.

A reservist in Ukraine is effectively what we are seeing Russia call up now but moreso - basically both countries have national service so the vast majority of men over 22 (a lot over 18) will have military 'experience'.

Territorial defence units are not units expected or trained to be taken away from their regional almost dad's army like role and thrown into areas in the east which is basically a death sentence with the level of artillery that was raining down on them

So the conscripts get to do the daily grind and the actual soldiers are off to Ukraine? Either way, it's a numbers game that Russia are banking on.

I think that you are right about the tactics and targets changing now. We'll unfortunately get to see how effectively that's done. I don't see anything other than a giant disaster in the offing.

Yes. I still think that hitting a nuclear facility maybe the weasel way to get around any technical use of nuclear weapons. A huge worry.

Will be in a few years, permanent resident though.

I was initially referring to Ukranians being thrown in with the brave comment, but actually it applies to anyone who goes into combat

I fear we're closer, during the CMC there where back channels of communication on both sides with people who could cut through the rhetoric and posturing and make deals, I don't think that safety structure exists remotely now.
