It’ll take at least 4 months to get them into some kind of orderly rabble. By that time it’ll be mid winter and whatever Russians are left in Ukraine will be next to useless. So this new lot will be thrust into combat as completely new BTG’s (they won’t be merged into existing units). The results will be utter carnage as they’ll be up against seasoned, battle-hardened Ukranian units.

One of the things the Russians have failed to do is attain any form of air-superiority let alone air supremacy.
Without that - they are stuffed.

Makes me think of the quote by the Duke of Wellington after the battle of Waterloo.

“They came at us in the same old way and we dealt with them in the same old way”.

Air superiority has been the most strange thing. Russia with its supposedly massive Air Force has done nothing but lose planes. So either they don’t exist, don’t work, or they are terrified of losing them. Russian military are losing reputation quicker than Ratners…once the spell is broken, as it now is, the world can see that Russia has no clothes……

I think they’ve suffered from a lack of spare parts, poor maintenance procedures and a lack of smart precision munitions.

Their success rate at getting combat aircraft in the air on missions is somewhere around 70% success rate. Compare this with NATO standards which are around 92% and you can see there’s s big problem with the maintenance and serviceability of their aircraft.

Also I noted that during a lot of videos that I saw, Russian pilots were using Garmin GPS SAT-NAV systems, which is a bit weird as Russia had its own military GPS satellite system (indicates it was either not working or being completely jammed).

The lack of precision munitions forces them to use dumb bombs and at low levels. This means they have to fly in the Ukraine MAN-PAD zones which have proved to be highly effective at downing Russian jets.

Also you have to look at the quality and experience of the Russian pilots. They get way less flying hours than say RAF pilots but you can say the same of Ukranian pilots - so that one is a bit of an enigma.

Ukraine has also deployed very effective mid-to-high altitude AD systems and is currently deploying both starsteak and NASAM’s

There’s really no answer to this. Don’t invade someone else’s country and everything is cool……

It really is that simplistic for me. ANY finger pointing at Ukraine, given the level of destruction dished out by Russia, which would be worse if it were not for western assistance, is quite strange. This stupid theory that the west are prolonging the suffering by arming Ukraine is equally as strange, as if they think Zelenskiy should just roll over and hand Russia the keys to Kiev.

Bit of a gamble if it's true if he has full mobilisation , when the body bags start arriving home in big numbers .
It could get tricky very quickly for him.
God help anyone get thrust into the middle of a war in a Eastern European winter.
One side motivated by it being there homeland, the other even if they believe the government line will very quickly realise they are in a giant meat grinder.
The west will up there arms to counter this, they will prove again bluster will not hold them back.
Not popular on here but I have some sympathy for anybody get roped into going into that situation.

No one deserves to be there, that is for sure. However, how you act when you are there is very different.

It will be utter carnage.

If Russia hits Ukrainian services, this could be a complete disaster for civilians too.

Iets face it if you are sent there you would be looking for a way home pretty sharpish.
Think I would take my chances with the Ukraines and say I had Been captured, if I were Russia.
Would not be dying for some fake war putin has thought up.

Heard some theories that if these 'referendums' (Which I am sure are fair and not in anyway rigged) go in favor of joining Russia, then Russia can justify 'stronger' measures and save face on calling this a 'war' by claiming that Ukraine is now invading Russian territory.
