Now that sounds like classic whataboutism.? As we speak the US are supplying arms to keep the bloodshed going. Is that the US you are proud of?
Well this is the crux of it isn't it? I am glad we are helping Ukraine as they don't have the means or ability to develop what a superpower has at it's disposal. So they were behind the eight ball once everything kicked off. Along with US sending recently sophisticated equipment other Nations have chipped in. Actually, a host of Nations have heeded the call for military aid to Ukraine such as the Aussies, Canada, Brits, France, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Belgium, Portugal, Germany, Holland, Croatia, Greece, Romania, Czech Republic and Spain forgive me if a missed a few. Since the 2014 Crimea incursion a Australian and Canadian presence has provided training and logistical support. Seems like a well rounded lot in one accord. US also being a superpower not only in the Military sense but also in material wealth can do things other Countries just can not afford to do without weakening their own safety and welfare. Notable absences are Hungary and Bulgaria both NATO aligned but murmurings suggest they still have a soft spot for Russian so neutral they are.

Bulgaria I believe is repairing Ukrainian vehicles and planes + producing ammo but I could be wrong. There is a big pro-Russian presence within their population which their government has to contend with.

Orcs is certainly a fitting description. The fiends constant targetting of civilians and civilian infrastructure is nothing but more evidence of cowardly, sub human behaviour.

News is now coming out of turture centres in the liberated areas, more rapes and executions.

I wonder how supportive or willing to turn a blind eye those sitting in the comfort of Moscow and St Petersberg would be if the Ukrainians pushed through and subjected them to same behaviour that Russians are committing in Ukraine.

It is all very, very sad.

They both decided way before recent events. Based on history with a toxic dictator of Empire building most of the free world wants nothing what old Putin has on offer. Most of the think tanks agree this has been the most inept command and control army since Iraq being a vaunted fifth best. The main issue is the total loss of life on both sides. Young Russian’s have been slaughtered for no reason because of madness.
Thought the last phrase showed you had some understanding of this whole situation. The Brit lads who killed Iraqi civilians mostly came from council estates, the US soldiers mostly joined up to get out of ghetto poverty. The Russians so poor that they loot toilets and bits of furniture. Don't think many Brits doubted Blair and the Americans got the full America home of the brave land of the free treatment so we're totally brainwashed. So the idea that the deaths of Russian soldiers is something to celebrate is so sick. Then you slip back to the party line.

Unfortunately the war crimes committed over time by citizens of many different nations shows it is not uncommon and sadly an all too human trait.

So I am just going to stick to calling the people who approved/executed attacks like this one and the multiple documented other violations of international law on the treatment of civilians in a war zone as war criminals and hope that they see justice.

TBF the Russian conscript soldier was often victimized first by his own side (where the second year conscripts abused the first year) although apparently it is a lot less common now than it was now given more contract soldiers and one-year conscription.

I agree though that celebrating the deaths of these men is pretty shameful.

Will Russia be willing/able to send troops?

I suspect if they truly wanted to, or at least forced upon to do so, they'll have some troops to send, but the quality and quantity will be questionable.

Issues on Russia's border will require a strong response from Putin unless he wants the prestige of the state, with its influence in the region, to diminish further.

But to take the eye from Ukraine? That's a risky strategy.
