Can you in layman's terms explain how this comment even remotely makes any sense? Sympathy for a brutal aggressor whom waltzed in and raped, pillaged and devastated a infrastructure to last a lifetime not to mention the loss of life in general. Then turn around in next sentence spout your pro Russian ideas of the US whom has poured billons of dollars to help families whom have been displaced and has aided the Ukraine defense with weapons to basically secure Europe( Germany included). How does that denote cynicism for a country just because they aren't ratching up the need for ceasefire. Also, have you seen or heard the Russian propaganda would you call that embarrassing as well? Or just when personalities or correspondents make mistakes on live TV that perhaps will cost them their job or even life.

You comments above must be taking the mickey of us all.
He’s a total fruit-loop mate.

So whose gonna pay for all this? Ukraine has nada. I think Russia won't be paying a brass rouble. We're going into a recession and someone soon will be presenting Ukraine with a bill once the dust settles.

If the Donbass and Crimea stay in Russian hands then they also have the shale fields.

Meanwhile Vietnam and Taiwan are getting nervous and arming up. We can't be taking our eye off the ball there

I said quite clearly No sympathy! Your reading skills are what's taking the mickey.
As for arms are you not aware of Lease Lend?

When this is over the US own the Ukraine.

Rape is horrific and whoever does it should be prosecuted to the full extent, in war it always happens and that's a sad indictment.
Errr. While it may become a part of many conflicts, it doesn’t happen in all and where it does occur I’d say there’s a wide spectrum of culpability.

There’s a subtle difference between one or a handful of rogue soldiers committing such crimes and far more widespread as per the culture.

The concern is that the Russians may sway to the latter rather than the former.

The FT had a piece on this, looking at the EU and wests plans to find how Russia can be made to pay for repairing the mass destruction that they have inflicted upon Ukraine.

They are looking at using seized Russian assets of both oligarchs and the state. One approach being to use Russian foreign exchange reserves thet were frozen after the invasion. These assets run into hundreds of billions of euros.

One of the EU’s top diplomats, Josep Borrell has said that. “I would be very much in favour because it is full of logic."

There are precedents for the seizures of sovereign assets, such as those of Afghanistan’s central bank seized earlier this year.

We had the same product available in 1941 to combat the Nazi's and the defense of free Europe whom were devastated and were impoverished. We had the industry and product that nations needed at the time to protect themselves from a tyrannical foe. Same today Ukraine needed help against a superior foe who had miscalculated their resolve to defend. Ukraine was limited to the arms they had. The whole world has come to the aid against the aggressor not just the US. This bill makes it easier for the rebuild after this stupidity.
I grew up in Liverpool and know full well the aftermath of the German Bombing for many years after the 1940's In fact going into town from Maghull in the 60's and early 70's the damage to the area still showed crumbling reminders of Hitler's insanity. Not Western spin mate witnessed as real tangible fact.

The US have made a fortune out of "rebuilding" Iraq, well Iraq's oil has at least. Good trick, illegally invade a country, trash it and make them pay.

Russia ain't taking the Donbass

And didn't the UK pay and pay
Finally finished in 2006
Same will happen to Ukraine
.US the
world's largest oil producer and weapons industry, who would want this war to end??
Err, isn't the fact that the USA was generous enough to allow us to pay off our post-war loans over a very long period of time at a very low rate (2%) a good thing? They could have demanded much worse terms than that.
