…you’re missing a key factor, the striker status in our squad in January.

When Cannon was sent on loan in January, DCLs frailty was a given as was Maupay’s ineffectiveness. Basically, the squad didn’t have a striker, a situation further compounded by our failure to bring one in.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin unavailable, Maupay so ineffective we play wingers as central strikers ahead of him. We sell Gordon & send the only conventional central striker in the club on loan. It’s not hindsight, it’s negligence.

This summer, all being well it could also be considered a masterstroke :)

Great to see him doing so well and can only be a positive. To me it shows the loan was a good move, although of course some people will be determined to say otherwise.

It’s worth noting in the excitement though that Archer - who the Preston fans are arguing over whether he’s better than - went back to villa after his loan there last year and made no impact at all before being sent out again in January. It is a big step up still, let’s not be expecting too much.
