Hindsight. Could argue it's better for him long term to be playing for Preston.

…don’t get the ‘hindsight’ argument.

Thelwell is paid lots of money for his expertise. He sent Simms on loan then brought him back early because Maupay is useless. He then sends Cannon on loan & he’s looking decent quality in the Championship. Thelwell‘s judgment of players is clearly flawed.

Of course it's hindsight. Just because he's scoring regularly for Preston is not an indication he'd be scoring for Everton if he never went out.

^ hindsight.

Returns to Everton

Scores a goal

Gets placed on a pedestal / future England captain etc

Next game misplaces a pass

Immediately dismissed as not good enough nsno etc.

Been around Everton too long me.

….Maupay has scored 1 goal. Its not hindsight to think Cannon would’ve scored more, it’s a lack of judgement.

He’s scoring different types of goals and is displaying a bit of quality.

Simms also only has 1 goal for us and he was scoring at a better rate than Cannon so...

Maupay and DCL wou struggle in Championship, if he was at Brighton he’d be knocking them in with Ferguson. Short sighted Everton.

Hes also playing in a 2 at Preston. Same way all Simms loans have been 2 up top. Leading the line on your own at a higher level is obviously a bigger ask and completely different
