Maupay and Dominic Calvert-Lewin wou struggle in Championship, if he was at Brighton he’d be knocking them in with Ferguson. Short sighted Everton.

…don’t get the ‘hindsight’ argument.
Thelwell is paid lots of money for his expertise. He sent Simms on loan then brought him back early because Maupay is useless. He then sends Cannon on loan & he’s looking decent quality in the Championship. Thelwell‘s judgment of players is clearly flawed.

That being said if this loan move proves instrumental in Tom Cannon developing into a prem striker then its an odd stick to beat him with.
There are definitely two ways of looking at it. The first is we should have kept them. They are showing they are good enough, and maybe even too good for the championship.
The 2nd is that both needed game time in that league to prepare them. Cannon had 0 in his first 5 and now has 5 in 5. We used both loans well and may get 2 first team players out of it.
I have sympathy to both views. I'm not convinced Cannon would have been ready for Dyche, but then, who would have had him starting Gray as a 9?
…you’re missing a key factor, the striker status in our squad in January.
When Cannon was sent on loan in January, DCLs frailty was a given as was Maupay’s ineffectiveness. Basically, the squad didn’t have a striker, a situation further compounded by our failure to bring one in.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin unavailable, Maupay so ineffective we play wingers as central strikers ahead of him. We sell Gordon & send the only conventional central striker in the club on loan. It’s not hindsight, it’s negligence.
Has somebody hacked your account? If he’d stayed at Everton it’s very likely he wouldn’t have developed so confidently playing against world class defenders, in a poor team, under pressure from Evertonians.
Such experiences can set back a player through confidence alone. He’s out and scoring for Preston and coming along, it’s been a good decision to loam him out.
You are a grotesquely fat marshmallow with all the cognitive ability of a dying, festering sea cucumber.Has somebody hacked your account?
