iirc, he struggled at the start in a tougher league than the youth league he came from, adapted and improved and is doing well.
Which ever league we're in next season, he'll be an asset

Disagree with loaning him out, I’m certain he could have done a job in and around the first team while DCL has been out.

Hopefully the loan continues to be a success and he gets even more minutes/goals there so he’s a better striker for our team next year.

Loaning cannon seems like it was the best decision but will he sit on the bench for 80+ minutes next season for us or go back on loan.
Depends where we are. If we in the championships him and simms have a real chance since they proved they can score goals in that league. If we stay up then depends on what possible strikers we can attract. Feel personally he could do with a full season on loan again playing week in and week out. It’s a massive step up in quality.

Without tempting fate i think this guy is going to be a very good striker and With this current board, how long can we keep players like cannon, they will just sell at the 1st opportunity and say we tried to keep him, because they are so incompetent at their jobs and do not generate any money other than TV and player sales.

Get the board out

Tom Cannon will never play for Everton.

# If we survive - the loan was a good decision
# If we go down - It was a failure from our club

We shouldn't ever be In a position where the 2nd option plays such a part in our discussions about a young player finally getting a chance.

If I look back will I find posts of yours pre-January asking for him to play/stay?

I think so.

I might not have posted specifically about cannon, but I am sure I was asking for the young lads to get a chance with us before we loaned them out, including simms, Brainthwaite, warrington etc ahead of some of the garbage we’ve had stinking the gaff out for years.

Great idea to loan him out.

I still dont get this: the board of directors get chased out of town for incompetency, but Thelwell is still welcome.

How does that work?
He's quite cleverly avoided the limelight somewhat. I think the jury is put on him a bit. Seemed unsuited to the hands on nature of the job at first but looking at the the appoints he is making, he clearly sees himself adopting a systemic approach.

I'm unconvinced tbh. He looks like being a cheapo DoF.
