We can only speculate, of course, & obviously the injuries don't help, but I can't help thinking that an earlier resolution to our transfer activity this summer may have been beneficial. With Lescott on his way prior to the start of the season, & less acrimoniously too, & our new signings fit & available we would have had a little more positive momentum going into the season, perhaps. For example, having a couple of the new players not eligible for the Europa League matches is a bit of a cock-up & can't inspire confidence amongst the squad in the clubs organisational abilities & seeing one of your team-mates demonised over a transfer may cause some of our players to reflect "That could be me next summer!". However, there also seemed to be an uncharacteristic lack of the usual Moyes inspired team-spirit back when Rooney played his final season for us amidst rumours of dressing-room discord but Moyes managed to turn things 'round back then & we finished 4th the following season, so we shouldn't despair just yet - maybe sometimes things have to be broken down a bit in order to rebuild afresh : better than before.

This is a windup right?

I mean come on. No one is playing well and you're gonna call Cahill out?

So I can't comment on a player without being accused of singling out?

Behave.

My point was, and its a very valid one - is he's constantly talking to the media and I'm sick of hearing and disagreeing with a lot of what he is saying and he's been very, very poor this season.

The latter point, no Evertonian would disagree with.

I can only take so many promises and statements of intentions without starting to think "Instead of telling us what you need to do... actually go and there and do it"

Well he is a senior member of the team, probably one who the press believes identifies us the most (see Fifa 10 cover), especially with Pip out. As someone said last year about all Neville's interviews, i'm sure he doesn't go round reporters houses to tell them these things. And should only players who are performing be aloud to speak in the press? Wouldn't be many people to interview at the club then would there?

Thats not what I said though, is it?

Yesterday: "We're too good to go down"
Today: "First of all, we need to make sure we dont get relegated..."

Thats what I mean by me disagreeing with him. I was surprise Moyes regarded him as fourth choice Captain - I'm not now...

No doubt I would be more sympathetic to him if he was playing well, but for months now every other day on my drive to work I am hearing a sound byte from him of how we'll up our game and start performing.... as I said - I can only take so many promises and statements of intentions without starting to think "Instead of telling us what you/we need to do... actually go and there and do it"

Ok. So if I have this straight, a player has to be "on form" to comment about Everton's current situation? If that were the case, I guess only Billy, Saha, or Heitinga could say anything.

I'm certainly not arguing about Cahill's form. You've got that spot on. He's been very poor for all of this season.

But I wouldn't hammer him for commenting about the current status of the club. It's a refreshing change for once instead of only hearing from Moyes or Neville on the subject.
