Tim Cahill admits Everton 'couldn't hit a barn door at the moment'

I would sooner formulate my opinion by trusting my own eyes since August.

I haven't spoke to an Evertonian this season who hasn't thought Cahill has been way below par.

This season he's been very poor. Granted, he's been great in the past but this season he hasn't been good enough.

He has been poor, but hes barely fit, he needs a rest, when Fellaini is barely fit his fanclub jumps to his defense, but when Cahill is unfit people start sticking the blades in.

Pees me off to be honest, Tim Cahill is a complete legend.

Not sure what Fellaini has got to do with anything? You tend to bring him in to every thread, weird. On that point, Moyes has confirmed Fellaini has played through injury, back injuries, groin etc.

I'm not sure he's done the same about Cahill.

Theres also a difference. Cahill is a senior, he's nearly 30 - he's been at the club for 5+ years and he's the Captain. Approaching half way through the season, it's about time he put in at least a half decent performance... don't you think?

Its stating the bleedin obvious really isn't it : Cahill hasn't done as well this season in previous seasons.

And?

I'm pretty sure if there was some sure fire way for him to score a hat-trick every game he would, but unfortunatly its not as simple as that.

He has been playing in a understength lacking in confidence team out of position most of the season. And hasn't it been blatantly obvious really for a long time that when he isn't doing what he does best he is very average indeed.

But whinging that he hasn't been good enough as if he should be expected to suddenly be great again with a snap of the fingers isn't really gona solve anything.

It will.

He's go on a scoring spree now just to make me look a bigger tool than usual.

I thought he was alright yesterday. I add Fellaini to the debate cos as far as im concerned, its 1 or the other.

When Arteta returns, and with a full squad - maybe.

I wouldn't say that right now though.

Cahills a quality player and has been a fantastic servant and will go down as an Everton legend.

This season so far though..... :dodgy:

He has been below par but his performance on Sunday was a positive to take as he looked much better.

Hopefully - but I didn't really rate him in the derby either.

Maybe I expect more from him, but aside from that header, I don't recall him offering much. Pienaar/Fellaini/Heitinga dominated, Cahill should always be in that category - because he's certainly good enough.

For whatever reason, he's just not himself.

He is far from fully fit IMO having said that he is now 29. Takes longer to recover especially from his kind of injury. But at his age now is time running out for Tim and should we be thinking of a replacement??:dodgy:

The thing is, he hasn't played in his role for a while. He's either been flung out on the wing due to injurys or asked to play the deeper role because Moyes didn't think Fellaini had adapted to that central midfield role. Now that Fellaini was given the opportunity and did well, we'll see him in his usual role and he did fine on Sunday, not back to his best but shown signs. I can see him grabbing a goal v Spurs if we line up with the same team (Except for Heitinga obv).
