Now you're just taking the piss.

I'd say that 80%+ on here wanted Donovan full time.

Less than 15% of your users on here are American.

You do the math.

Dempsey and Donovan for Everton? Hell Ye!
Both quality players who would improve our sqaud! Why would'nt anyone want these 2 players? There age is not a problem, ask fergie does he think age is a problem going for RVP!
Oh so there American,so what, they are quality proven players!

Some propper whoppers just attention seeking on here still! Zatara im looking at you!

OK then, what makes you think we are in such a bad situation?

Our debt is small compared to premier league standards. Over the past 5 years we have been able to make losses of 5 million pound a year and then easily rectify such losses by the selling of a few assets, and the effect on the team has been negligible, although it certainly has stalled progress which is what we all want.

We could do it all over again and the banks would still get their money, but we wont have to, because our revenue will far exceed our expenditure in just two years time.

The debt hasnt dropped from around 45m despite selling players and getting rid of our highest earners

Ferguson doesnt have to worry about finding money to replace RVP when he turns 33-34

Neither does Moyes, as he will simply just sell one of the players who have been bought with a view of receiving a re-sale value in the future, which is the policy that some people are advocating.

And our income will have dramatically increased by the time Donovan reaches 34.

What happens if we have nobody to sell that will bring in enough money to sign 2-3 players?

Why will we have a increase in revenue?

Why wouldn't we have anyone to sell, will our squad have evaporated into thin air? There are plenty of players at Everton who could be sold at significant profit in order cover any supposed loss made through buying Donovan.

The new TV deal will see our revenue dramatically increased.

Tell me who? Do remember I am on about when we replace him and who ever else needs replacing in 3-4 years time

Would you have swapped Dempsey & Donovan for Rodwell? Knowing Rodwell is not going to be a regular this season,Dempsey slotting into Cahills position Donovan adding pace and quality down the right!
Some going on about re-sale value, these same people are moaning when we sell our better players ffs!
Bottom line if we got Dempsey and Donovan would they increase our chances of winning something in the next few seasons? IMO yes they would!

No doubt. Would you want it any other way? Because I wouldn't.

I suppose we would all want the likes of Kenwright to give us money for free, but it just isn't going to happen I am afraid.

Is there another board in the Premier League who have invested £0 in the football club they own/run?

The simple reality is that with our financial model (sell to buy) we can't lose a 21 year old for £12-15M and spend the bulk of that cash on players that we will never recoup a penny on. Pienaar was worth the £4.5M because of the galvanising effect he had on the squad but I think a few eyebrows were raised at a four-year contract presumably on 50-60K a week. If we then add similar wages and contract lengths for two other 30 year-olds (or 29 1/2 in Dempsey's case) on top of £10-15M in transfer fees then we will be hamstrung in the transfer market in the future (and we all know how moany we get when that happens). This would be particularly damaging if we end up carrying a couple of long-term injuries (Fellaini and Jelavic for example would be a disaster), or one of our star performers decides to run down their contract á la Pienaar. So for me, Donovan at £3-4M max, and only if he comes in now, and give Dempsey a total swerve.

Tell me who?

My word.

Jelavic.
Fellaini.
Baines.
Heitinga.
Jagileka. (All for significant money).

Then you have other players like Anichebe, Coleman and Vellios who would also make a profit following their sales.

I've deliberately left out the likes of Barkley and Garbutt because they may turn out to be crap.

Please remember that selling off players in order to gain a profit, just so we can do the exact same thing 4 years later is what is being advocated by some on here.

In 3+ years only Fellaini of those will be able to be sold for a big fee.

And I'd rather have Fellaini than Donovan or Dempsey.
