Don't know where those numbers are coming from but I seriously doubt MLS would get anywhere close to 8M for Landon Donovan now. Two years ago? Possibly. Now? Highly doubtful.

It seems you are always looking a few season down. What about right now? Not bringing in first team players AS WELL AS youth for the future leaves us bottom heavy, with people who have never played in the league when the people at the top move on//retire.

It's a bit like having a poll which says

A -- Would you have Donovan and dempsey for 17mil
B -- Would you rather spend 17mil on a top european player (insert name)
C -- Would you rather spend 17mil on 2 or 3 well known and exciting prospects.
