2025/26 Thierno Barry

He's scored 3 in the last 4.

4 in the last 8.

6 in 16 is easily achievable.

I think you might dial down your certainty over the next month or two.
Happy to. He's just too ungainly to ever be a prolific forward in this league. I dont see anything to prove otherwise. All my own views.

I think it's more a case of starting to feel that the manager and fans believe in him. Self-confidence isn't one of his weaknesses at all.

True, it has come across that way after the goals in recent games, but his body language was showing bad vibes (from a confidence, mental health aspect), when getting subbed, etc. Maybe I was reading it wrong or too much into it, but I certainly felt that to be getting to be the case. Obviously just guess work, from a layman, but that is what I was starting to sense. You are probably more right that it is more on the managers and fans side.

He needs to be sold. It's not going to work out for him here. Doesn't look that bothered. Shows little effort and passion. Just write it off and get him gone.

The voices from the stands will soon make Moyes get rid of him quicker.

That's a disgrace of a penalty. Look at the way his balls fall off when he misses.

Never in a million years will this fella be the solution.
etc etc

Nor would I ! Considering Semenyo has about that in half a season in a Bournemouth team and from out wide, I'd say Barry is miles off.
Semenyo whos just been bought by one of the best teams in the country for 60 odd mill ( only that cheap because of release fee)

Dont think nobodys expecting city or arsenal to be coming in for barry at any point

…it’s a bit of a nonsense post, it’s a football forum and he’s been largely disappointing but I’m sure everybody wants him to be the real deal. Similar with Dibling, they both have a lot to prove but we just want them to do it.
I think thats a bit unfair. Everyone knew he was a project, even if they wanted him to score from day one. Its a bit like buying a guitar with a broken neck, then be disappointed when it doesnt ring true when you strum the strings.
Objectively, id say he started off looking very raw, but showed signs of improvement quickly, and has improved from every game. It took a bit for him to get his first goal, but ever since getting that confidence boost hes looked better and has kept scoring - long may it continue. There is still ways to go before we can proclaim him the next Lukaku, but so far he seems to be a decent gamble who might pay off. I struggle to see where disappointment fits in here. You can be disappointed in the club for not bringing in a ready made 15 a season striker, but being disappointed in Barry is unfair.

If you wanted a striker guaranteed to get 15-20 goals, you would have had to pay at least double what Barry cost.

Also it’s worth noting - Barry has been transferred 5 summers in a row, to teams in 5 different countries. He went from Sochaux B in France, to Beveren in Belgium, to Basel in Switzerland, to Villarreal in Spain, and finally here. That is a lot of change and upheaval behind the scenes.

I think people's perceptions need to change, has he been brought in to score goals? Yes, but he was brought in to develop, if he can get 4-6 more goals then that is more than acceptable for a young striker coming into this league.

There is a lot to like about Barry, and I am extremely confident this time next season we're having a different discussion about him.

People are so desperate for the here and now that they'd rather short term gain for long term pain.

Barry is, has, and will be short term pain for long term gain.

He has every attribute to be a top striker, and he will be.

Give him time.

Far from convinced.
But whatever. That was one of the most beautiful goals I've seen. Romantic even.
While some Everton strikers over the last few decades I wouldn't stand a chance of remembering, Barry's goal will live long in the memory.
A fluke? He's got the rest of the season to prove it wasn't.
