2025/26 Thierno Barry

Confidence can be everything for a striker, when you’re low on it you snatch at chances , take on attempts when you should have passed , desperate to score etc. He’s starting to put things together now, still not the total package of course and still got a lot of development to do , but for a young striker in his first PL season he’s starting to make an impact.

If you wanted a striker guaranteed to get 15-20 goals, you would have had to pay at least double what Barry cost.

Also it’s worth noting - Barry has been transferred 5 summers in a row, to teams in 5 different countries. He went from Sochaux B in France, to Beveren in Belgium, to Basel in Switzerland, to Villarreal in Spain, and finally here. That is a lot of change and upheaval behind the scenes.
He is the Wrexham of footballers..

He’s got one less goal than wonder signing Woltemade, who cost triple what Everton paid for Barry. He also cost roughly a third of Sesko and title chasing Gyokeres and has the same amount of goals as them.

And was needed was a little patience and support. All I ask is that instead of having these circular bed pissing contests can we rid the forum of these so called fans who hate themselves so much they try to project it onto young Everton players. Most of us just want to have reasoned interaction on here.

On face value that's correct, but in the modern game a striker has to offer more than a goal return. Holding up the ball to link midfield runners and pressing defenders plus the usual level of physicality to upset central defenders. He hasn't been helped by what appears to be a chronic shoulder issue and the lack of pace in wide areas so although double figures would be satisfactory for this season he'll need to have pushed on by this time next year or we'll need to start looking for a long-term replacement.
No, but hopefully he can to grips with that side of his game. Most of that play can be trained. putting the ball in the net, especially like the other day with that composure can't be trained..

We just need a good second option, not to much pressure on him.

Look at that happy face on the lad now, compared to when he first came.

I just cant warm to him. Even if he gets a goal here and there his all round game is so meh. Even when he turned the leeds defender he looked so awkward trying to just run after the ball.
I just cant see anything that says stick with him.
