The Moyes influence on Everton.

I liked Moyes and always backed him 100%, as for me he was doing a very good job in very difficult circumstances.
It all turned for me when they beat us a Wembley, it hit me at the beginning of the second half when they come out and the end erupted in support - they were confident that they would win this game. Everton come out and the reception was loud but you could sense that feeling of dread - the rest is history.
After the game I walked away and thought this plucky little Everton mentality approach DM has instilled into the club and the supporters isn't right and he needs to change as we will never win anything.
I still supported him but started to tire of the negative approach he adopted.
I wasn't glad to see him go, but I thought the time was right for all parties, the shame of all this is the after taste he has left in people's mouths with his comments and chasing of players
Will always have good memories of his tenure

So close to my own view....that surrender in the semi was when it became abundantly clear that we'd have to part with a on-the-whole good manager.....he seemed frightened of losing in an attempt to win, and as a consequence the players were restricted. But, he did a decent job on the whole, especially at home. Away from home he was dire.

Moyes regularly played one particular player despite him being rank-bad awful technically and in attitude.

Roberto got £6.5M for the same fella.

Debate concluded.

We came 17 th one season - as I stated he was useful , but not worth his ten year reign- when your Chairman stated he would not sack him if we were relegated says it all really, - his relationship with BK was far too comfortable - off subject BK was not there on Sat?

How many times were we bottom half under Moyes?
How many the decade before?
How many times were we top half under Moyes?
How many the decade before?

We had no right to improve when those around spent more than us, but to improve to the level we did is something we would praise any other club for as a one off.. Let alone for a decade.

Totally agree

Martinez played Naismith and look at the forums opinion of him.. Then look what happened lol

Just because everyone here says someone sucks, doesn't make it so.

I keep hearing the net spend between the managers

A couple of points
RM wants to hold on to players as his belief is he is building something.
DM sold players so they could improve their own careers
Hence the difference in net spend

Also with the introduction of the TV windfall the last couple of years a 10ml player 5 years ago is now 30ml
So Lukaku was the equivalent of Yakubu

The net spend is not a valid argument as the finances in football have been turned upside down in the last few years

Moyes wanted to keep Lescott, its almost like you have forgotten his performance in the Arsenal smashing.

Compare that with John Stones reaction to being told he had to stay.

Martinez has had the choice to keep players. Moyes didn't. Rooney and Arteta sold on the last day of windows to satisfy the banks with Moyes barely seeing any of it. Yet the fans wanted Europe. Imagine Stones had been sold on the last day but instead of getting at the board we just blamed Martinez for not getting Browning to hit the same heights.

Look DM is now history, let's move on with RM - I feel this is the season his signings have to push us to the level,of his first season to keep our star players, and build a very good team in the future, if he can win a cup then that's a bonus it's what the current fans deserve last trophy 1995
Let's hope this season we finish near or in the top 4 if we can play like we did on Sat!
