The Moyes influence on Everton.

I liked Moyes and always backed him 100%, as for me he was doing a very good job in very difficult circumstances.
It all turned for me when they beat us a Wembley, it hit me at the beginning of the second half when they come out and the end erupted in support - they were confident that they would win this game. Everton come out and the reception was loud but you could sense that feeling of dread - the rest is history.
After the game I walked away and thought this plucky little Everton mentality approach DM has instilled into the club and the supporters isn't right and he needs to change as we will never win anything.
I still supported him but started to tire of the negative approach he adopted.
I wasn't glad to see him go, but I thought the time was right for all parties, the shame of all this is the after taste he has left in people's mouths with his comments and chasing of players
Will always have good memories of his tenure

Not bitter, just factual - I state the juries still out on RM, and DM. And Gordon Lee never won a trophy, if true facts are bitter, then you never seen the great years to compare our great club!

I fortunately have- I think you are taking my views out of context unfortunately!
dire football isn't an objective assessment though is it? It's not fact. It's selective at best and you forget how many times we tore teams apart with neat, fast passing.

Incorrect l. You're welcome to see things differently, your choice but

I mentioned that when Irvine was his no 2 did I not?
I feel he did a good job, but never ever felt he could take us on to a trophy!

which is just a way of begrudgingly admitting we did play good football whilst not giving Moyes himself any credit. We played brilliant football either side of Irvine so Moyes may well not have been the hoofball mastermind it was so easy to paint him as.

David Moyes did a fantastic job for the majority of his tenure, turning the club around from a laughing stock of aging has beens into a top half side which was capable of beating any side on it's day.

I accepted that we would never win anything with him in charge after the pathetic display against a weakened and average Liverpool team on that horrendous day in April. We looked frightened to death in that second half. Always trying to hold onto slender leads when adding a 2nd goal was the best way forward. He never rolled the dice in big games sadly, and that maybe why Utd dispensed with him so quickly.

He was excellent in the transfer market, and I thank him for bringing in some great players.

I feel he was needed at his time of arrival,

He was at the club ten years two great signings of Cahill , and Arteta it was not all bad as you make out - that I was stating, but hoof ball did exist , and defending a one goal lead!

I think folks do try to pigeon hole Moyes as hoofball. He did play that tactic a lot early on, but we did play some lovely football at times as well. Ping, ping, ping, and Baines is in acres of space down the left...etc.

He did at times play hoofball later on too...but on his day Fellaini was unplayable.

He was occasionally a pragmatist and sacrificed flair for a bit if grunt undeniably but we had a real style and identity to us that revolved around beautiful incisive football and high energy smothering defensive work.

The football we played last season was worse than anything Moyes served us, even with Neville and Heitinga in midfield.

Far to much re-writing of history goes on.

Moyes did an outstanding job, he couldnt take it to the next level tho, he still got us to Wembley a few times and a few semis here and there, plus 4th place.

Lets see if El fraudo can do a better job.

Moyes spent a total of 13.1m NET in his 11 years at the club on players, Martinez has so far spent 41.3m NET.

But we as a fanbase need to step looking backwards.

I have a hard time seeing how some on here are quick to dismiss or minimize what he did for this club. To have managed Everton for 11 years with only two finishes in the bottom half, and four in the top 6. Considering the club went through three transfer windows without signing a single first team player, it is an absolutely astounding feat. Despite his clear limitations with tactical decisions, it is silly to me to forget everything else he did for the fans and club. Over his tenure, he managed to consistently recruit increasingly talented players on the cheap and sell them at the peak of their value. He left a strong core of players (Barkley, Mirallas, Howard, Stones, Jagielka, Distin, Baines) that would not get relegated no matter who took over and provided a strong position from which to attract an exciting manager and exciting players. That has to be a more important achievement than silverware for that point in the club's history. We were broke, without a dime to spare for transfers, yet not only did he keep us up, he brought a once limited, relegation-embattled squad to Europe several times, to three cup semi-finals and an FA cup final all while finishing those same years in strong (5th-7th places) league positions; something Martinez has yet to do. I don't for a second agree that Moyes fostered a small club mentality, he was frank and honest in his assessment of our club's reasonable expectations. There was no way we could have expected to win trophies regularly and got close on 3 occasions. Whatever Moyes did to offend any of us after he left his post (even in the last month), that cannot take away from everything he achieved while he was here.

Stop btw, not step, I think I have some mental issues.
