They were speculating on getting into the Champions League though. We would be getting credit on guaranteed income. It would make more financial sense to spend around £3m to ensure that we pull away from the bottom rather than sitting tight and going down.

Was it last season that Moyes was saying that the players were asking for more competition. It had seemed that we were in the position to create competition for places. That seems to have changed very quickly.

We do prosper in adversity. As with giving goals away in games, I wish we'd do things the easy way for once.

WRONG.

Michel Platini says clubs must conform to financial fair play or 'face the music'
• Clubs face bans if they spend more than they earn
• 'Manchester City will respect new rules,' says Platini

Uefa's latest figures show that financial problems affecting European clubs are getting worse, with spending on player wages up almost 10% – and increasing at a faster rate than income. Under their new rules, clubs will face possible bans from European competition from the 2014-15 season if they spend more than they earn in the three years before.

Manchester City's recent £121m losses mean they are the club in England facing the greatest difficulty to abide by the rules – even though owners are also allowed to inject £12m a year into their club.

The first phase in deadline is 2013. However - ALL - clubs are expected to start getting their houses in order NOW.

"Platini, speaking at Uefa's headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, said: "If a club doesn't fall in line and follow the same rules as everyone else then it will be time to face the music. Certainly it is not something we want to see."

Hes quality mate, his distribution and vision is excellent, hes a playmaker and would be one of our most creative players, ive no doubht he would quickly become one of our best players. I think he could be moulded in to an inside left which bascily what Pienaar is, although we would miss Pienaars pace he is by far a more effective creative player.

And on form Arteta can do all that, and he basically does that job for Blackpool.

I think Bilya could do what Adam could do (we've seen him do it as well) if given the chance.

Agreed there also sheding wages like no ones buissness with all the loans etc, i would think there will be a massive difference come their next set of books.

Other thing being say Chelsea finish out of the top four and dont fancy a year in the Uefa, whats to stop them droppimg 80 mill to rebuild the team in theory. No great shakes being banned for Europe if your not and dont want to be in it.

So clubs are allowed no borrowings? I'm sure that plenty of clubs will be using creative accountancy to buy in this window.
