The L.C.A.B. / THT Transfer Window Thread ....

No europa league income, no carling cup income, everybody is skint (less merchandising/ season ticket income), higher salaries for Arteta, Rodwell ect, potential signings going to better paying/better placed clubs (ManCity/Spurs), the teams better players of 2009/10 coming back from world cup knackered (Jonny H?), injuries and lack of form to key players (Mikel, Saha, Jags), Peanuts ongoing contract situation leading to subpar performances, lack of investment from Bill and his mates.......

Think that covers it! In all seriousness, whilst its upsetting it's not entirely suprising, even the likes of Birmingham and Sunderland can land players we struggle to despite being in a similar spot in the prem for whatever reason. Moyes has never had loads to spend and without a Lescott type boost to his funds this year it was always going to be a battle. I hope (and think) he'll shuffle his pack a bit (Yak, Vaughan ect) and hopefully land a couple of players on loan. Would hope we can pick up a CB tho if Jonny H goes but in truth he is'nt a regular starter when Distin and Jags are fit and he has sell on value, which not alot of our squad players really do.

LCAB, top marks for your work, is anything incoming or outgoing likely to get done before we pick up our 3 points from that 'orrible place down the road on Sunday?

They say that the income from the europa league is chicken feed compared to the champions league and that the domestic cups are hardly worth bothering with financially. I made the point that being able to develop on Bellefield, the investment into the corporate facilities at Goodison and the improved deal with Chang surely boosts our coffers. We've hardly gone over the top on wages either.

I'm not asking for us to go out and buy the finished article. We should be able to do what Arsenal do though and buy players, develop them and sell on. To hear that we can't even afford wages is very concerning.

I don't really mind selling off some slices of the delicious everton cake that is our squad. Blue marzipan frosting and all. Have you seen the strength on our bench recently? We aren't even putting youngsters on it, that's how good it is. Most players on it are proven internationals or relatively experienced, definitive football starlets; Rodwell, Big Vic, Vaughny. Beckford, Hibbert and Ossie are all good enough to be starters and the young ones who are occasionaly getting onto the teamsheet, like Gueye, Baxter, Duffy and Mustafi, are players i'd find refreshing and exciting to see get some game time. And please Billy, honestly and for your own sake; get out there and get good.

Now, the fee we are rumoured to get for Heitinga is decent, but it might even be improved. He was excellent last season and in the world cup, performances nobody has yet to forget (though the Johnny Colossus H. thread has been oddly quiet) and even though he might seem unmotivated, he has undoubtable class. If Bayern don't get him, i imagine Chelsea or Arsenal as likely candidates. Or the italian game?

Johnny H. is a versatile player, and losing his capacity of covering our squad we might just lend the previously mentioned benchwarmers a big hand. We have all known, though, that for the last two seasons, what we've really been needing is another defender - even with Johnny and Yobo here. The almighty left-footed one. The left-back cover. The heir to Distin's spot once he fades.

We would never have needed a new striker if just Saha and Yak had delivered goals. Our form in front of goal is the reason to making this a priority! If i went back in time to january last year (back when Saha was a good player to put in your fantasy squad) and told myself that this is the situation Everton would be in one year from now, that we'd be selling the Yak to Leicester and that we'd be mid-january with no LD and Heitinga leaving, i would probably kill my future self for being a blert - one does not make ****ty jokes like that about everton - !

Either way, bring on the money. Adam in. Benzema in! How bout Jan Vertonghen now, then? Gary Cahill = Double Cahill power! Snatch Onuoha from city! Or Wheater from Bolton! **** it Everton, just do something!

Don't get me wrong, I agree with you it is very worrying, but i'm just not that suprised with it happening this season. I understand the income from domestic cups and europa league is very little, but when your looking at buying someone like Hammill for £500k a little extra income suddenly becomes alot. I think the frustrating thing is that we do have good talent coming thru but maybe its a year or so away (Barkley, Garbutt ect) and for a number of reasons we are a little short overall this year.

Couldnt agree with you more with regard to our new coporate facilities, Bellefield ect but I doubt we will see that extra income till at least next year.
