My point was that the media seem to be THE reason why supporters of Corbyn reckon he lost.

I think they overplay the impact said media have, and do a disservice to their potential voters.
Agree, its insulting to voters to dismiss their reasons
And its impossible to quantify which had more of an influence.
Well its done now.
On to sorting out Labour - which have got to say should not be allowed to be influenced by the media/

So by your lofty standards, no one questions what they read or watch, consume everything as fact, and act like a puppet for said media outlet? Thats the point I am making. If Labour think they lost this election cos of the media, well, if it suits you then fine. I would suggest they ask folk who voted against them instead of assuming.
Tell me why Liverpool, with its hatred of The Sun, is still such a Labour stronghold? Is the anti-Tory sentiment aided by our refusal to buy that bog roll? Do you think having a pro-Tory tabloid banned in our city has had any impact on our politics?

The fact you’re completely incapable of reading what I’m saying and are just assuming you know what it says is starting to get a bit annoying.

I’m not saying labour lost the election because of the media. Not even hinted at it. Nor have I ever said that people don’t question things. Not am I saying I have higher standards. In fact, I’ve already told you that I’m NOT saying any of those things.

I’ve given you two non political based examples which you haven’t addressed, presumably because you have no counter argument because you know those things have happened to you, but you’re doubling down anyway.

Kinda makes my point I am afraid. There is a big wide UK outside of Liverpool. Perhaps ask them why their Labour strongholds are no more.

Pretty obvious that a lot of people treated this election like a second EU referendum. The Tories hammered the idea of 'getting brexit done' while Labour took a neutral stance and promised a 2nd ref which wasn't popular with people in Labour leave constituencies. I really do think the Labour party took this for granted and didn't expect such a turn from the coalfield/post industrial constituencies in the North.

Pretty much this. Where I live its been a Labour seat for 75 years, not now and the Conservatives have gained a stonking majority.

My mate was on the team of the sitting Labour MP and at every door he knocked on he said Brexit was all that folks were interested in due to the referendum result not being carried out. Now you might not like to hear that but it is what it is, that's how folks felt. Let down.

The local MP did her best to be fair, but the Labour Party Brexit policy did her no favours and she paid the price.

If any deal had been passed (good or bad) then I suspect it would still be Labour today along with a lot of other traditionally Labour constituencies.

eh?

the point is Labour's manifesto was too far left, too marxist. The electorate aren't keen, and never have been. Blair's Labour was centre-left. Under that manifesto they won 3 elections in a row.
But maybe that was because there was no Brexit involved and we hadn't had years of open door immigration.

Since Rupert Murdoch has had a controlling stake in the written press in the UK, he has not lost an election.

It's gets the message out, then for the like of TV and radio to discuss.

Nigh on 40 years now, some record that.

Because every election has been won by a centre ground or centre-right party.

He himself is right wing - what a shocker. Doesn't mean he influences anything - just means he's automatically on the winning side.

But maybe that was because there was no Brexit involved and we hadn't had years of open door immigration.

also a factor, i agree...tho' UK hasn't had open-door immigration to non-EU persons. Germany has. Open-door in this context means literally the borders are open and all are allowed in without checking of documents. Admittedly, this was arguably a necessary humanistic response to the mass migrant waves of 2015/16 (and partly still continuing today).

Sorry mate, you seemed to have missed my point.

We don't like The Sun. We don't buy The Sun. The Sun sell the Tories. We don't buy the Tories.

Are none of those things connected at all?

Where does the first post mention labour losing the election mate? Remember when I said you’re assuming you know what I’m saying but you don’t? Thanks for proving me right.

I am only talking about the fact that the media influences people’s opinions. About everything. The matter was brought up in a discussion about labour losing the election but my post, and those subsequently, have been about my incredulity that anybody could seriously think that media doesn’t influence people’s opinions in general.

You can apologise whenever you’re ready.
